ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS – PROJECT BASED LEARNING
In groups of three or less you must complete the following tasks on one of the following ancient
civilizations:

3-D Model
a. Incorporate the 5 Themes of Geography into your Model –
i. Movement – Think transportation of people, food and ideas
ii. Human-Environment Interaction – Think of how humans adapt and
change their environment
iii. Place – Human – Cultural features, land use and architectural forms,
transportation, livelihood of religion, transportation and communication.
Physical – topography, mountains, rivers, beaches etc.
iv. Region – This may be difficult. What area of the world is this civilization
located
v. Location – Relative Location (near, close to ect)
b. Include at least one major Architectural Feature of your Civilization (Coliseum,
Aqueducts, Greek Temples, Egyptian Pyramids etc)
c. Create Notes for each of your 5 Themes of Geography for the presentation.
Elaborate on each aspect of your 3-D Model. Your notes will be collected as a
part of your final project. Explain how every portion of your diagram aided in the
development of your civilization.
Brochure Requirements
Welcome to Ancient Civilization! A trip back in time......
In your Ancient Civilization Brochure you must create a detailed page on each of the following
topics:




Religion(s) practiced
Food (staples in the diet of this civilization)
Traditions
The economy (How do people make a living? Is currency used? Who makes up the
upper, middle, and lower class?)
 Government (How is order within the society maintained?)
Also included in your brochure should be a picture for each page and a catchy Title Page.
Connecting the Past to our Present
The final portion of your project is a reflection power point detailing ways that your civilization
contributed to modern society and what key aspects led to your civilizations decline. You must
answer the following question through a power point or “Prezi” presentation:
List the key reasons why your civilization declined or collapsed. This section should be brief
and concise (research 5 main reasons for the collapse or eventual decline of your civilization)
How did your civilization influence the modern world? Things to include:





Religion
Government
