Cracking Art at the Duomo
The Cracking Art Group takes an ethically responsible
approach to ambient art with its Regeneration installation.
Until 13 October, fifty picturesque, blue Snails will embellish
the Duomo’s upper terrace. Established in collaboration with
the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo association, the aim of
the project is to raise funds to restore the Main Spire of the
cathedral which supports the statue of Milan’s famed golden

MUSIC IN THE CATHEDRAL. The first Tuesday
in October will mark the start of the International
Organ Festival, a cycle of afternoon concerts in the
Cathedral, organized to promote the patrimony of
Veneranda Fabbrica and the largest organ in Italy.

Orchards in Milan
First date to visit “Hortus 2015: Milano
città d’orti”, an exhibition designed to
raise awareness and remind that, in the
not so distant past, the city abounded in
orchards and green spaces. Maps, prints,
period photographs and contemporary
videos will walk visitors through the
centuries, in discovery of an unexpected
past and a future which will see the
return of urban orchards as a hallmark
feature of Milan’s identity.

THE IMPERIAL AGE. In October, Palazzo Reale will
host the impressive “Costantino 313 d.C.” exhibition
featuring more than 200 priceless archaeological
finds and works of art, marking the anniversary of
the declaration of the Edict of Milan.

Con la costruzione dei Bastioni Spagnoli, a Milano viene a crearsi,
tra le nuove fortificazioni e le antiche mura medioevali, un’ampia
fascia verde, per lo più a ortaglie, in cui troveranno collocazione
conventi e monasteri, configurando per oltre tre secoli un preciso e
riconoscibile disegno urbano della città.
L’arrivo della ferrovia e il dinamismo immobiliare di fine ‘800 e dei
primi del ‘900, segnano la fine di questa corona orticola, che viene
rapidamente a saturarsi di nuova edificazione.
Riscoprire la Milano città d’orti, tramite mappe, stampe e fotografie
d’epoca, dipinti, è l’obiettivo di questa mostra, che vuole costituire
una base di riflessione e di spunto sul ruolo che gli orti urbani
possono oggi assumere nel ridisegno della città contemporanea.
