CHS HAPPENINGS:
Kristen Kauke, our former school social worker, presented on Erin’s Law
to all students in April. Erin's Law requires age-appropriate sexual
abuse and assault awareness and prevention education in grades
pre-kindergarten through 12th. Kristen is currently in private practice
at Creekwood Associates in St. Charles where she provides individual
and group counseling.
On April 14th, Central competed in an art competition along with 13
other schools from the Big Northern Conference. With only 81 awards
given out, Central won 21! In a competition with 700 art pieces,
Central still dominated in many categories and took home BEST IN
SHOW. Congratulations! Below is the amazing artwork…

Happy May from the Health Office:
Warm-er Weather Safety
Stay hydrated when exerting yourself outside
SUN BLOCK-apply SPF 30 to all exposed skin even in early spring.
Watch out for animals and pedestrians when driving.
Carry your inhaler. Allergies trigger asthma.
School Year 2016-2017…
New Immunization Requirements
See the attached letter from the IDPH regarding the new requirements for seniors (12th graders).
Individual Health Plan
For those students with Chronic Health Conditions please go to the district website under Health services to
find your students appropriate Health Plan (Asthma, Diabetes, Anaphylaxis/Allergy and Seizure), print,
complete and return to school. http://www.burlington.k12.il.us/ If your student has a condition that does
not have a standard health plan, please contact the Nurse before the end of the school year (I’m not
available in summer).
Medications
Students are NOT allowed to carry medications on their person, BUT with the proper forms, filled out by their
doctors and parents, meds can be kept in the Nurse’s Office. This applies to all prescriptions as well as over
the counter medications. With the goal of keeping students in school, we can keep medications such as
Ibuprofen, Tylenol, menstrual medication, Tums, allergy meds, etc with the proper forms and medication (in
original bottle) provided by you, in the Nurse’s Office. Forms available at http://www.burlington.k12.il.us/
Inhalers & EpiPens
If your child is going to be carrying his or her own inhaler or Epipen, be sure that there is a Documentation
and ”Self Administration” Form on file in the Nurse’s office. While students are allowed to carry inhalers and
Epipens for their use, there must be appropriate records of the doctor’s order for the use. These packets
were mailed home, and are available on line, at the District website. http://www.burlington.k12.il.us/
*Please remember to pick up this any medications, by May 27, from
my office-expired meds will be disposed.
As always, feel free to call the health office with any questions.
