THE MOON - exploring our solar system
The Moon looks big and bright because it is so close to us.
It is about 384,000 km. away.
The Moon does not look like Earth.
There are no trees, growing plants, lakes, rivers, or oceans.
No animals or people have ever lived there.
The Moon has no atmosphere. This means there is no wind or
weather happening on the Moon.
It takes one month for the Moon to travel around Earth.
As it does this the Moon seems to change shape, but it doesn't.
The different shapes we see are called the phases of the Moon.
