MTBA 2017 Travel Team Tryouts

7U (5/1/09-4/30/10) – Sunday 10/16, 2pm – 4pm JMP #3
8U (5/1/08-4/30/09) – Sunday 10/16 & Sunday 10/23, 12pm-2pm JMP#2
9U (5/1/07-4/30/08) – Sunday 10/16 & Sunday 10/23, 4pm-6pm JMP#2
10U (5/1/06-4/30/07) – Sunday 10/16, 12pm-2pm JMP#1 & Sunday 10/23, 12pm-2pm JMP#1
11U (5/1/05-4/30/06) – Sunday 10/16 & Sunday 10/23, 2pm-4pm JMP#1
12U (5/1/04-4/30/05) – Sunday 10/16 & Sunday 10/23, 4pm-6pm JMP#1
13U (5/1/03-4/30/04) – Sunday 10/16 & Sunday 10/23, 11:00am – 1pm Oak Tree
Players trying out for Travel teams must attend all tryout sessions for their age group. Players who are
injured or sick at the time of the tryouts may be added to a Travel Team based on prior year’s
performance with approval from MTBA Board and the Travel Managers. A doctor’s note is required.
The Executive Board may only make exceptions with a request in writing for an injury or illness. Not
attending all tryouts could affect a player’s chances of being selected for a Travel Team, either Purple or
Gold. Players excused from a tryout will be rated and selected for a team based on that 1 tryout.
Due to Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth League boundaries, all players must reside in Monroe Township or
Jamesburg in order to participate in the MTBA Recreation and Travel Programs. All Travel players are
required to play in the MTBA Spring Recreation League.
MTBA intends to field two Travel Teams in the 8U-13U age groups. The $TBD Registration Fee covers the
cost of 3 open tournament entry fees, the Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth Tournaments, Districts and beyond and the
MTBA Mid-Summer Invitational Tournament if hosted. The registration fee must be paid by 3/31/17. In
addition to the registration fee, parents are responsible for purchasing the required uniform. The estimated cost
for a full uniform is approximately $150.
For the 7U age group there is no registration fee. Parents will be responsible for all costs of Leagues or
Tournaments that the team enters. The MTBA will provide insurance for the team. The team is responsible for
purchasing a uniform and is not required to have the official travel uniform. Twelve or more players will make
up the 7U team.
Twelve or more players from each age group will make the Monroe Purple Team, the next twelve or more
players will make the Monroe Gold Team. Should there be enough players to field a White Team, the next
twelve or more players would be chosen.
The teams being chosen as a result of these tryouts will be the team that the players are on from the time of the
selection of the team until next Fall Tryout and subsequent team selection. This would include:
 Team Winter Workouts
 Spring 2017 (i.e. – USABL, CJBL)
 Summer Tournament Season (Memorial Day – end of July)
 Fall 2017 (i.e. – USABL, CJBL)
Please note – Winter workouts, Spring & Fall are optional (but encouraged). Summer Travel season is
mandatory.
All Travel Players must be available Memorial Day Weekend, and all of June and July for Tournament play.
