hank you for being a proud and loyal supporter of Good Hands PlainwellSM! Hands2Hands has gone through a transformation over the last year and we couldn’t be more excited about the changes and future in store for the organization.
First of all, we changed our name to better affiliate us with our community. As our organization’s primary focus is to provide our
weekly meal bags to the students of the Plainwell School District, we decided to set ourselves apart from similar organizations and
be uniquely identified with our community. Throughout the summer of 2015 we transitioned from Hands2Hands to Good Hands
PlainwellSM and we couldn’t be more excited! This fall, documentation was submitted to seek an official Service Trade Mark for
our name and logo through the State of Michigan.
Secondly, we expanded our outreach. This school year, Good Hands PlainwellSM is reaching out to even more newly qualified students! Thanks in part to our many donors, we were able to expand our services to those students on the “reduced” lunch program.
In addition, we also have plans in motion this year to expand to 6th grade students. It has truly been a blessing for all of us within
the organization see the realization of the goals we set out to achieve.
Lastly, every organization starts with one person’s dream, inspiration and passion; as the mission fruitions beyond the limits of
ones capability, the organization must shift to meet the new demands. For Good Hands PlainwellSM, that someone was Nancy
Heilig. Nancy’s dream blossomed with her mission to help feed kids in 2011 when she originally founded Hands2Hands. She
spent, countless hours working on grants, donors, special events and planning to help make the organization a success. This summer, Nancy decided to continue her passion to reach even more kids by assisting with other local organizations and stepping down
from her Presidential role with Good Hands PlainwellSM . I am blessed and honored to call Nancy a friend and mentor. With the
vacancy of Nancy from the President’s chair, I was honored to accept the nomination to follow such a great leader. I have been an
active member of the Board since 2011 and work in Plainwell for GHD as a Project Manager. Additionally, we are excited to announce that Leandra Burke was nominated to fill the Vice-President’s position. Leandra works for WMU as a research coordinator
and brings a vast amount of grant writing experience to the board. We are all excited about the future of our organization! Thank
you again for your support as we aid those who need it most, our children of Plainwell!
Thank you again for your continued support and we look forward to another great year!
