What We Learn in Global Awareness I
This class is split into two sections. In the first half of the year, until Christmas,
we will be learning Geography skills. In the second half of the year we will be
studying Ancient History.
Geography:
-Map Skills
-Cartography (the art of map making)
-Physical Geography
-Five Themes of Geography
Ancient History:
-Ancient Mesopotamia
-Ancient Egypt
-Ancient Greece
-Ancient Rome
How We Learn This Stuff
Notebook: You must maintain a spiral notebook for this class. It will contain
notes, definitions, charts, and maps. Your notebook will be graded once a
month on neatness and completeness.
Assignments/Homework: It is common to be assigned homework in this
class. It will be due the day after it is assigned unless otherwise informed.
Projects: We will do many large projects this year. These projects are very
important, and will be graded accordingly.
Tests/Quizzes: There will be traditional tests and/or quizzes all year.
Map Quizzes: There will be weekly maps and a monthly map quiz.
Grading Breakdown
A = 90-100
B = 89-80
C = 79-70
D = 69-60
E = 59-50
F = 49-below

Materials for Global Awareness
Your first assignment in this class is to obtain the proper materials for class. You
will be expected to bring four things to class every day.
