Task: Your job for this project is to make appropriate, functional analogies between cell parts
and everyday objects. Each analogy must show a comparison between a cell part and an object
or idea. An analogy is defined as follows, “A comparison between two things which are similar
in some respects, but are otherwise different; an explanation of something by comparing it with
something else.”- Webster’s Dictionary. Each analogy should give the reason the items are
alike. All definitions and ideas must be written by you; please DO NOT copy and paste. You
must cover all of the organelles from your organelle notes.
An accurate analogy would look like this:
The (write the cell part here) is like the (write an object or idea) because it (write the function) in
the same way (write the job of the object).
Choices:
A) Drawing: You will be asked to draw or visually represent a typical eukaryotic cell.
Then, you must create an analogy for each cell part and represent that analogy with a
picture which will be connected to the cell part with an arrow. This should be completed
on a poster size piece of paper.
B) Digital: You may create a powerpoint or prezi as long as they adhere to the above
criteria. Each cell part must have an appropriate analogy as well as a visual
representation of that cell part. This should be uploaded to schoology for my review.
Grading: You will be graded on neatness, accuracy, and creativity.
