Medical School Faculty – Division of Clinical Informatics in the Department of Medicine Description of position: The Division of Clinical Informatics in the Department of Medicine was created to assist the Department of Medicine to advance the field of informatics in several ways including: Assisting clinicians who seek to perform quality improvement activities and clinical research using data derived from clinical systems at Umass Memorial Medical Center. Define, educate and evaluate a clinical informatics curriculum for faculty, housestaff and medical students. Work with the Clinical System IS Department to help with essential activities regarding the deployment of the new Epic EMR. Advise Department of Medicine leadership regarding trends in healthcare IT that merit attention. Participate in scholarly activities in the field of clinical informatics. The UMass Memorial Care System located in Worcester, MADepartment is the clinicalofpartner of The Division members willHealth have access to leaders in clinical care in the Medicine and throughout UMass Memorial Medical Center along with leaders in scholarly investigation in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) in the UMass Medical School. QHS offers a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) which is a valuable educational option for qualified candidates. Candidates for the position should: Be board certified in internal medicine and still be active in clinical practice in an internal medicine subspecialty, hospital medicine or general internal medicine. Have a track record of achievement in clinical informatics as demonstrated either by project work in clinical informatics and/or scholarly work in the field. Have a track record of achievement in quality/process improvement for clinical care using health information technology. Experience with Epic EMRs or Board Certification in Clinical Informatics are desirable but not mandatory for consideration of applications.
