The SERF Riders have served the ESWR in the past and will offer real-time information to NET control.
Should SERF come upon a rider down and in need of EMT support, they will initiate the 911 call and render
assistance as needed. As soon as possible this information will be passed to Net Control
NOTE: AS OF 19 August, all SERF assignments are TENTATIVE and UNCONFIRMED with Anita
Thomson. We expect to receive a final roster and contact information prior to the event and will
circulate a revised ICS 204 reflecting any changes the day before the event.

7. Work Assignments
SAG radio operators/passengers are to report to the Communications Trailer early Sunday morning for introduction to the driver of your SAG
vehicle. That introduction will be made at the 0645 Ops Briefing. Radio operators assigned to rest stop locations should also come to the Recreation
Center for the 0645 Ops Briefing. If you need a dual band mobile radio for your assignment, report to the Communications Trailer at 0600 for
familiarization training on the Go Kits or other mobile equipment you will be issued. Contact Mike Griffin at [email protected] prior to the
event if you will be needing a radio the day of the event.
At all locations we will be giving situation reports to race officials and passing traffic to Net Control
Use tactical call signs to start a conversation. Example “Net Control this is “SAG 3.”
Use your FCC call-sign to end a conversation. Example: “Ok I copy. Last rider has gone by your position. Net Control Out. N1PP.”
8. Special Instructions
We have already surveyed the race course. You will need a dual-band mobile VHF radio to have clear communications.
Also, the riders and YOU will be operating in a dangerous situation along active roadways and highways. Please be careful!
9. Communications
We will use the 440.475 MHz repeater (Tone +127.3) as our primary and the 147.000 repeater (Tone -127.3) as the back-up. Both have been tested
and can cover the ride course. This could change depending on Comm Checks on ride day. The 146.835 (Tone -127.3) repeater will also be
monitored from Net Control. If you have to use it, use call sign to call sign protocol. Have all three repeaters programmed into your mobile. If you
don’t have a dual band radio, check one out at 0600 at the Comm Trailer the morning of the event but let Mike Griffin know before the event that you
will be needing one so that an adequate number can be on hand.
