SECTION III: TEACHING
I spend approximately 20% of my time preparing and presenting material for formal courses for medical
students. Most of the time I spend on service is also used for teaching since I often sign out a neurosurgical
cases and brain autopsies with at least one medical student, pathology resident, neurology resident or
neurosurgical resident learning from the case.
In 2011 I created an in depth virtual tour of the Nun Study Neuropathology which involved creating an
educational description of brain neuroanatomy and microscopy. The site describes how the Nun Study brains
were examined by a neuropathologist, processed by a histotechnologist and eventually made ready for virtual
viewing using slide viewing technology.
