Printed in the United States of America v. 5.30.01 If the Vovici Free Word Processor ActiveX cab fails to install on a client due to security reasons, it can be manually installed as follows. 1. Enter the following URL into Internet Explorer: http://vovici.com/downloads/comm/5_3/VoviciSurveyDesigner.cab The following screen will appear: 2. Click Open 3. Select all the files (This can be done either by clicking Edit|Select All or Ctrl+A) 4. Then copy the files (This can be done either by clicking Edit|Copy or Ctrl+C) 5. Now open up another explorer window (Click Start|Programs|Accessories|Windows Explorer or Win+E) 6. Navigate to the system directory C:\Windows\System32 on Windows XP C:\Winnt\System32 on Windows 2000 C:\Windows\SysWOW64 on Windows XP x64 7. And paste the files, Edit|Paste or Ctrl+V a. If prompted to overwrite any files click Yes 8. Now manually register three controls. (It is possible that you might need to be logged into the computer with the actual Administrator account not just a user added to the Local Administrator group in Windows.) • • • • • Go to a DOS prompt (Typically this can be done following the steps below:) Click Start Choose Run Type cmd A window will open and a DOS prompt will be presented a. Type: cd c:\windows\system32 Note: On Windows XP x64 this should be: cd c:\windows\sysWOW64 b. Type: regsvr32 tx4ole13.ocx c. Type: Regsvr32 scptutl.dll d. Type: regsvr32 vovicisurveydesigner.ocx Vista note: In some cases the Administrator account does not have registry rights and will need to perform the following steps in order to properly registry the ActiveX control: 1. Make a shortcut of cmd.exe on the desktop 2. Right click the shortcut and select Run as 3. Choose the local Administrator account 4. Execute the commands (8a through 8d) listed above
