Accomplishments
 Earnings Before Depreciation and Interest and Taxes (EDBIT) for FY 94
4.23 million, FY 95 5.97 million, and FY 96 7.7 million.
 Instituted new echocardiology and cardiac cath labs.
 Opened geropsych day program – Transitions.
 Recruited seven new physicians.
 Created ten Centers of Excellence to ensure hospital’s viability in
highly competitive managed care market.
 Developed occupational medicine program through emergency room
accounting for forty percent of 24,000 annual visits.

 Turnaround of ten year old problematic Family Practice Residency
Program. Coordinated appeals process and application for new

 Recruited two new hospital based physician groups in radiology and
anesthesia increasing referrals and admissions by 13%.
 Implemented Medical Staff Development Plan with succession
planning component. Responsible for the recruitment of eight
primary care physicians and five subspecialists.

Franciscan Health System of Cincinnati
Chief Operating Officer and vice President Mental Health Services (19881990)
Retained as the administrator of Emerson A. North Hospital after the
purchase in July, 1988 and assumed responsibility for Corporate Mental
Health Services throughout the system. Led the transition from private
for-profit psychiatric facility into a not-for-profit Catholic multi-hospital
system.




Directed a free standing EAP contracting directly with employers.
Established Outpatient Chemical Dependency program with aftercare.
Established a Christian treatment unit for psychiatric disorders.
Developed, implemented and marketed a physical experiential
management development program, “Avanti”, for community and
business leaders.
 Established first Cocaine unit in the tri-state area.
 Recruited a consulting psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services at
both system emergency room and long term care facilities.

REPUBLIC HEALTH CORPORATION
Emerson A. North Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio (1987-1988)
Chief Executive Officer
Transferred to Cincinnati to maintain Republic’s psychiatric flagship
hospital and undertook a new replacement construction project.
 Coordinated construction and occupancy of 115-bed facility on
existing campus.
 Recruited and increased the attending medical staff by twenty-five
percent.
 Organized, recruited and developed a Community Advisory Board of
12 community leaders.
 Established indoor and outdoor ROPES (Reality Oriented Physical
Experiential System) Course for each of the five treatment units
within the hospital.

 Realized profits on operations of $12 and $13 million in revenues of
$1 million and $400,000 respectively.
 Devised intense marketing plan and referral development system
with heavy emphasis on print and radio campaigns with a $350,000
budget.
 Established two medical director positions to liaison with the hospital

hospital, a joint venture between two community acute care hospitals
