Hershey Park

Are you looking for a super “sweet” vacation? Well, you may just like Hershey
Park. Most of the park is candy themed. Hershey’s is located on 100 W. Hershey
Park Drive, PA. Milton S. Hershey was the founder of Hershey. The Park was
opened to the public in 1907. The hope was to have a fun and recreational place
for local people, but today the park has gotten further than that. It is now a full on
amusement park. Hershey Park consists of roller coasters and carnival games. It
also has restaurants and shows to enjoy too. The cool thing about Hershey Park is
that if you know your height, the rides are marked based on your height category.
There are six categories, Jolly Ranchers, Twizzlers, Hershey's, Reese’s, Kisses,
and Miniatures. For the average fifth or sixth grader, you would be either a Jolly
Rancher, Twizzler, or Hershey. If you are a Jolly Rancher you have the freedom to
anything in the park basically, except for the kiddie rides. To be a Jolly Rancher,
you have to be over 60 inches tall. For the smaller kids, you're probably either a
Twizzlers or a Hershey's. To be a Twizzlers you have to be 54 to 60 inches but to
be a Hershey you only have to be 48 to 54 inches tall. With these candy themed
height categories, you have the full experience of the park from restaurants, to
shows, to roller coasters. Some of the rides you may have fun with are the Carousel, Tilt-a-Whirl, Merry Derry Dip Fun Slides, Ferris Wheel, and Reese's Xtreme
Cup Challenge. Hershey’s Park is a very family based park for anyone to enjoy.
We recommend visiting the park soon. Take your family today, before its too late.

The Baseball Player Of The Week

The baseball player of the week is Andrew Stefan
McCutchen. McCutchen was born on October 10th,
1986. He is currently 27 years old. He was drafted to
the Pittsburgh Pirates as the 11th pick. He is five foot
ten inches tall. McCutchen weighs about 190 pounds.
He plays centerfield and is right handed. He bats and
throws right handed. Wow! He has been on the Pirates
since 2009! McCutchen makes 15.5 million dollars!
He has been number 22 ever since he signed with the
Pirates. That is the player of the week.

Weekly Surveys

This week, we asked 3rd grade in the cafeteria during lunch what their favorite drink
was. We gave them the options of juice, Pepsi, Coke, Gatorade, or hot chocolate. The
most, twenty-two of the kids, liked Gatorade the best. Juice is least liked by the students Nyzier from McIntyre’s class likes Gatorade the best because it gives him “more
energy.” Faith from Mrs. McIntyre’s class likes hot chocolate the best because it keeps
her “warm in the winter.” In conclusion, most 3 rd graders from AS@P like Gatorade.
MLB Player of the Week

Francisco Liriano
is 1 million dollars a season and his number is #47. It will be
known around the world in a few years.
Francisco Liriano aced in the NL wild card game against the
Cincinnati Reds and defeated them 6-2 for Liriano to get the win.
The Pirates moved on to face the St. Louis Cardinals in the
NLDS. The season series is 10-9 in favor of the Pirates. Liriano
started his career with the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago
White Sox. He threw a no hitter against his former team, The
White sox, but got traded to the Pirates. He was 16-8 in the regular season [3rd best record in NL] and with an ERA of 3.05. He
is 6 foot 2 inches and 215 pounds! He bats and throws left handed. He was born Oct. 26, 1983 and is 29 years of age. His salary

TEACHER INTERVIEW

This week we decided to interview
Mrs. Clark. She grew up in Jeannette. She went to Fort Pitt Elementary school in Jeanette. Then
she went to college at Seton Hill
and Pitt University. Mrs. Clark
has been teaching for 33 years.
Her favorite thing about teaching
is spending time with her students
and helping them understand.
Mrs. Clark said that she enjoys AS@P
and she’s returned home. . She said
that she taught here her first seven
years of her career. She also stated
that she DOES NOT miss Adlai. Mrs.
Clark said that her favorite color is
purple! In her free time Mrs. Clark
likes to camp, cross stich, and scrap
book. She said that she didn’t have
two favorite students and that it wasn’t
fair but we think that’s code for Lorna
and Michaela. Mrs. Clark
also said she had lots of fun
being interviewed and that
her interviewers were spectacular. We also had fun doing this interview.
Pedro Alvarez

Pedro Alvarez was born on February 6th, 1987 in Santo Damingo,
Dominican Republic. He plays 3rd base for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He has a miraculous glove. This year he hit a batting average .233
and hit a National League leading 36 home runs, and also had 100
runs batted in. He was elected to play in the 2013 All-Star Game.
Also was elected for the Home Run Derby, but was eliminated in
the 1st round while only hitting 6 home runs. He is an outstanding
player and he will have a successful future.
Martial Arts

Martial arts is an art of self-defense. Martial arts was made up because the emperor took away everybody’s weapons. So instead of going Clink! With their swords they
went Pow! With their fists. Guatemala Buddha invented Martial Arts so the people could
fight back but do not use their weapons. Since Guatemala Buddha didn’t want the emperor
to know, they practiced at night. When more people heard about it they made Guatemala
Buddha let them join but, when the emperor was walking around he saw that some kids
became smarter and stronger. So he figured out that Guatemala Buddha was in charge of it.
So he made Guatemala teach the emperor and teach his guards. Then the emperor made his
followers go around the world and teach them martial arts. So now we know about martial
arts and we have added on to it.

Pet of the Week

This week’s pet of the week is Nathan’s awesome dog Max. Max
is an eight year old, reddish brown color, male Vizsla, and has a
younger sister named Hope. Nathan helps takes care of him by
feeding him, taking him outside, giving him fresh water, and playing with him. Max’s favorite things are running and eating gravy
covered dog food. Max also likes sitting on the couch and watching TV with Nathan, since he thinks he is a lap dog he sits on Nathan’s lap while watching TV! Max is a very energetic dog who
can sit, lay down, speak, and even runs to the door when someone
says “out!” Max is a super cool dog and Nathan is a great owner.

This week we interviewed Mrs. Gionta, the Secretary. Her favorite things to do are go
to casinos, concerts, and spend time with family. Her favorite color is burgundy. Her
favorite movie is the Godfather. Her favorite part about working at Adlai is the wonderful staff and students. She has been to Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas, Punta Cana,
and California. She loves college football, and her favorite food is Italian . Now,
hopefully you know more about our secretary, Mrs. Gionta.

Celebrity of the Week:

Josh Hutcherson
Josh Hutcherson is the newest Celebrity of the Week. He is 21 years old, his birthday is
October 12th, 1992, and he 5’7”. Josh was born in Union, Kentucky. He likes the colors
blue and green but prefers blue. Josh has the iPhone 5 in blue and has two dogs and two
cats. His dog’s names are Nixon and Desiel. His cat’s names are Jello and Paws. He also
has some fish. Josh has acted in 27 movies since he was nine. He has also starred in two
animated movies, Epic and The Polar Express. In Epic he played Nod, and in The Polar
Express he played Hero Boy. His favorite clothing are tanktops He says, “Tanktops are
very comfy and you can feel free.” Josh inspires many people by his acting and that’s
why he is our Celebrity of the Week.
The Blob Fish

The answer from last week’s question was A. True. Sea Kraits are venomous snakes.
This week’s article will be on the Blob fish. Never heard of it? Well we didn’t until
after we did this article. Well, the Blob fish lives in the deep seas near Australia and
New Zealand. They can dive down to depths of 600 through 1,200 meters. They can
dive this deep and withstand high pressures, because of their jelly-like bodies. They
are on the endangered list of species and, get this, they have no muscles! So, how do
they eat you ask? Well, all that they do is hover near the ocean floor and swallow any
food matter that floats by them. So, now you know some basic things about the Blob
fish. See you next week.

MW3 is a new video game that came out at the
end of 2011. In this game, you can start a campaign where you have to hunt down a notorious
criminal called Vladimer Makarov. You can
also play in a multiplayer mode where you can
play against your friends. On Xbox live, you
can play against people and talk to them using
headphones with a mic attached to them. In another mode, called Special Ops, you can do missions that have to do a little with the campaign.
You can also play a mode, called survival mode,
where you try to survive wave after
wave of attack dogs, soldiers, exploding people, and juggernauts.

In the month of October, there are a lot of sixth grade birthdays. Happy Birthday to these five people. Michaela’s birthday is October 3rd and she wants a white I phone 5s. Krista, born on October 14 th, wants an I phone 5s. Tyler C. was born on October 15 th and
would like any video game. Tyler G. was born one day after Tyler C’s birthday and would enjoy a new I pod 5. Kira was born on
the 17th, and wants video games for her birthday.
Vanilla Cake Recipe From Spoonful.com
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 40 minutes
You Will Need~2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
~2 cups of sugar
~1 cup of milk
~3/4 cup of vegetable oil
~2 ¼ teaspoons of baking powder
~1 teaspoon of vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 F. Line two 9-inch round cake pans or one 9x13-inch rectangular baking pan with
parchment paper. Grease the paper and the sides of the pan well.
In a large mixing bowl, with an electric mixer, beat sugar and eggs together until slightly thickened,
about 1 minute. Add flour, milk, oil, baking powder, and vanilla and beat for another minute, just until the batter is smooth and creamy. Don’t overbeat. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan(s).
Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes
The Voice

For this week we are going to tell you about the teams! The teams are called
Team Adam, Team Blake, Team Christina, and Team Ceelo. First, we are going
to talk about Team Adam. Team Adam members are Donna Allen, Nic Hawk,
James Wolpert, Barry Black, Tessanne Chin, Justin Blake, Preston Pohl, Ashley
Dubose, James Irwin, Will Champlin, Grey, Matt Cermanski. It looks like Team
Adam is the strongest. Now for team Blake consists of Shelbie Z, Holly Henry,
Austin Jenckes, E.G Daily, Cilla Chan, Monika Leigh, Ray Boudreaux, Sam
Cerniglia, Emily Randolph, Justin Chain, Brian Pounds, Brandon Chase. Blake
has another good chance of winning. Now for Team Christina with the biggest
team, the members are Josh Logan, Matthew Schuler, Jacquie Lee, Destinee
Quinn, Briana Cuoco, Jacob Poole, Lina Gaudenzi, Timura – Joi, Amber Nicole,
Olivia Henken, Stephanie Anne Johnson, Michael Lynch. Maybe Christina will
win this year. Now for Team Ceelo with the second strongest group his team
consists of Kat Robichaud, Caroline Pennell, Jonny Gray, Cole Vosbury, Anthony Paul, George Horga Jr., Juhi, R. Anthony, Keaira Lashae, Lupe Carroll, Shawn Smith, Tamara Chauniece. Good luck Ceelo!
