Hi Parents, Caregivers & Students, Hope you are looking forward to Canberra as much as I am. I have had a few queries from parents and just thought I would try to answer them as you might all have similar questions. 1. Pens, Pencils, Paper do we take them? YES Bring pens, pencils as I have created an activity book for you. Paper is not necessary. 2. Can I take a backpack? YES All students should have a backpack. This I would recommend to be your carry on luggage as the airline has strict baggage conditions. You are only allowed 1 suitcase (up to 23 kg) and 1 carry-on (up to 7kg). 3. Clothes – What to wear. SEE BELOW TUESDAY After much discussion this week it has been decided that all students are to wear full Sports uniform (both shirt and shorts). Girls may wear black tights. Bring your school jumper. Please bring school sports hat for Taronga Zoo. Students may wear their own joggers - they do not need to be their school sport shoes. WEDNESDAY All Students are to wear formal uniform (boys Ties, belt, shirt tucked in). Girls your hair must be up. I am allowing students to take a change of clothes (and joggers) for Questacon Wednesday and iplay in their day backpack. THURSDAY & FRIDAY Free dress SATURDAY Formal uniform for Dawn Service. Girls may wear black tights. Students can wear their own jacket/beanie. Free for remainder of day. 4. BP pick up and drop off – Where do we wait? AROUND WHERE TRUCKS AND BUSES STOP. Pick Up (21st April) Tuesday - Students are to be at the BP south by 4:50am. We are meeting where the trucks and buses stop not the pump side. Miss Crase and Mrs Horrigan will be there to mark your name off. Drop Off (25th April) Saturday - Students will be dropped off at approximately 6pm where the trucks and buses stop. If you want us to pick up/drop off your child at the Caboolture BP's - you MUST complete the online form here: https://docs.google.com/a/glasshouse.qld.edu.au/forms/d/1M1Ua8qDtG224lvQw7YH95KZY2qbIuxkDbQB_GG p3lF0/viewform 5. Baggage and Ribbon – Are we labelling our bags? Students will receive ribbon to tie around suitcase handle for easy identification and a bag tag for their carry-on luggage on 6. Snacks – Can we take some? Unless you have received special permission, students do not need to bring any snacks, as all snacks will be provided. We will also have gum and lollies for students on the plane if necessary. 7. Weather - Will I be cold down there? Looking at the temperatures lately, Canberra has been around 26 degrees during the day and getting down to between 4 – 6 degrees at night. Bring a jumper for the day and something warmer for the night. 8. MP3/IPODS/GAMES – Can we bring them? I don’t mind if students bring an ipod shuffle or mp3 as along as it does not have Internet or phone access. Board Games or a pack of cards may be brought along for students to share.
