A Year in the Life of an Industry Worker

A YEAR IN THE LIFE AT
GENERAL MOTORS
The family before the
Great Depression
affected us.

I am a worker for General Motors in Flint, MI. I’ve been
working here for a few years now but when the Great
Depression hit it was bad news for me and my family. Here is
my story..
Me striking at the Flint
Fisher Body Plant of
GM. “Flint Strike”

My boss eventually
wanted more work for
less money. Of course the
other workers and I
didn’t like that. We
started forming unions
and striking.



One of the causes of the Great Depression was the
unequal distribution of wealth.
The Gold Standard and hoarding of money also
contributed to the Depression.
The stock market crashes started it all though.
The New Deal

After I got my job back
we got back in a house
and survived the
Depression. That’s us in
our front yard.
