KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE PARTY FOR BOYS
First it was superheroes, then pirates, and now the library is opening its
doors to the knights of the realm at the Knights of the Round Table
party being held on Saturday April 21 at 1:30pm. Stories, games,
activities, a craft, and a snack equal a great time for boys ages 5-9!
Registration is required for this event, as space is limited.

trying something new this year: a Fancy Nancy Tea party, which will be
held on Saturday April 28 at 1:30pm. Registration is required for this
event, as space is limited to 24 girls (ages 5-9).
MILK JUGS
Milk jugs you say? Yes. The Friends of the Library are asking that you
save your 1 gallon milk jugs and donate them for their upcoming plant
sale/exchange (see Lines from Leon for more information). Jugs can be
dropped off to the library (please rinse them out first!!). THANK YOU!
PET PHOTO CONTEST
REMEMBER!! YOUR PET PHOTO IS DUE BY APRIL 11! IT CAN BE

RELAY FOR LIFE TEAM
The Library will have a team for Oceana County’s Relay for Life (June
29-30). This year’s theme is Hollywood and we’re representing Star
Wars. We’re selling feet for $1.00 at the library, accepting donations,
and will be looking for walkers during this 24 hour event. We are also
looking for sponsorships. If you’re interested, contact Kelsey MecherWentzloff, Team Captain.
Thanks for helping us fight cancer!!

Lines From Leon for March
Plants, Chairs, Photos and more
As you know, we held our March meeting early this month so I could attend to other things this week in the Township.
Pet photo contest is coming up mid April. Photos need to be in to the library by April 11. Barb Hopper plans on setting
up this contest and having it on display for your 25 cent votes by April 17. Please take a moment to get that best photo of
your pet and send it in to the Library to be included. A few rules: not larger than 4x6, names on the back of the photo so
it can be returned to you after the contest, and send along a stamped self addressed envelope that fits the photo if you
want it returned.
We look forward to counting the quarter votes at the end of the contest on May 9.
As I announced last month, we plan on a first ever plant exchange day in the garden outside the library. Several of the
garden plants need to be thinned, and we will be accepting your plants for exchange as well. Diana “garden” Clark is
asking that you help by saving plastic milk jugs and your pots to put plants in as you visit and exchange. This should be
a fun event. We’ll have a donation box available, and the proceeds will be used for maintenance of the garden we all
love to walk through. Help us make this an annual event by participating with your plants and a few moments of your
time. The date for your calendar is Saturday June 2 from 9 AM ‘til Noon.
Chairs and more chairs. Pick up day for the Little Chair-ity event is Saturday March 31 from 9 AM until 11 AM. If you
plan on participating, be there early for the best selection. As you know, this is first come first serve. I have a large selection of chairs, cribs, an all-wooden doll stroller, one small musical doll chair (remember the one Deb Clark did a couple
of years ago?) and new this year a rocking elephant and a beautiful solid oak rocking horse. For extra fun, I found a
mouse chair and a bear chair too. The backs are carved in to faces with ears. As I’ve said before, finding the chairs is a
lot of fun for me too, and I always wonder what our talented artists will do with each item.
Thanks to Jim Bedell and Charles Zegoski again this year for their repair work on items that are in need of some tender
loving care to make them usable again.
I was reminded this past month that we can all do a better job, especially me, of inviting new members of the community
to join our group. I‘ve met two new people in the past month, and had to go back or call after the fact to invite them to
visit our library and join the Friends group. If we all invited one new person our group and people to share the important
work of supporting the library would continue to expand.
Well, a busy month ahead for us. Enjoy a good book and have fun getting outside and enjoying the spring weather.
And, a special thank you to long time Friends Alberta and Earl Stanley for their recent generous monetary gift to the
Friends group. We’ll use it wisely. Alberta and Earl, as many of you know, live in Tennessee and are no longer able to
travel here to visit in person. Thanks to both of you.
Thanks,
Leon
