Putting our faith in God's promise that 'as many ofyou as were baptized into

and equipped to be bold in urging our elected officials to take action to end
hunger. Moved by God's grace in Jesus Christ, we can play a role in helping
every mother and child achieve their God-given potential.

Through Bread for che World's 2016
Offering of Letters, you can help
create the political will co do this.
Each year, thousands of churches
conduct an Offering of Letters.
Individuals are given an opporcunity­
before, during, or after the worship
service-co write letters co their
members of Congress about legislation
char addresses hunger.
This year, Bread for the World is
organizing letter writing to support
robust funding for nutrition and
health for mothers, newborns, and
young children. These letters will urge
Congress co increase funding co at
lease $230 million for programs for
mother and child nutrition. This
increase should happen in the Global
Health Account in the Stace
Department Foreign Operations
Appropriations Bill.
In addition, Congress can pass
the Global Food Securi ty Act and
reform the ways it provides food aid.
The Global Food Security Act will
ensure continued U.S. investments in
agriculture, thus improving nutrition
and increasing the productivi ty of
smallholder farmers. Reforming food
aid will also allow the United Scares
to provide humanitarian assistance in
a timely and more effective way. With
these reforms, women and children
will be more likely co receive the right
kind of nutrition in the 1,000-day
window between pregnancy and age 2.
