For the month of February, we are emphasizing the character
trait of Endurance: Realizing that true happiness does not
depend on material conditions. This week’s verse is Hebrews 12:1,
2a—“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great
cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and
the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with endurance the
race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and
perfecter of faith.”

District Parliamentary Procedures Career
Development Event
The District FFA Parliamentary Procedures Career
Development Event took place on February 10 in
Scio, Oregon. The purpose of this event is to teach
students how to use parliamentary procedure to
conduct an orderly and efficient meeting. Students
present a logical, realistic, and convincing debate
on motions presented during a business meeting.
These motions consist of a variety of agricultural
topics that are considered important and somewhat
controversial in Oregon agriculture today. Students
utilize parliamentary resources to solve problems
of organizational management and operations and
demonstrate knowledge using parliamentary law all
while advocating for or against the agricultural issue
at hand.
Santiam Christian
competed in both
the beginning and
advanced contests
with 2 teams in
each respective
division.
Beginning Team
members
consisted of Presiding Officer – Gracie Krahn and her
teammates Rory Donley-Lovato, Amanda Preston,
Kyndall Davis, Sophey Roberts, and Devin Premsingh.
Advanced Team
members consisted
of Presiding Officer –
Vandon Haugen and
his teammates:
Mikayla Manzi, Eva
Mitts, Emma Roth,
LR Burns, and
Matthew Mehlschau.
Santiam Christian won the beginning contest and
took second in the advanced division. Both teams
have qualified to compete at Sectionals, which will

Willamette District Creed Speaking Career
Development Event
The District FFA Creed Speaking
Contest took place on
February 10 in Scio, Oregon.
This Career Development Event is
designed to provide younger
members an opportunity to
participate in an activity where
they may display their leadership
and speaking abilities.
Participants articulate thoughts
and ideas pertaining to the creed
for public understanding. Additionally, students
must be able to think on their feet as they are asked
impromptu questions pertaining to sections of the
creed – specifically judged on how they effectively
respond to inquiries about agriculture and how it
relates to the creed.
Santiam Christian FFA had two participants in this
event. Congratulations to freshmen Amanda Preston
and Gracie Krahn for bannering in this contest. Gracie
was 1st and Amanda was 3rd in the event. Gracie has
now qualified to compete at Sectionals which will
be held Monday, February 27 in Sutherlin, Oregon.
Congratulations ladies and good luck at Sectionals!
