July 21 Times: 9:00—12:00 PM Res/Non: $208/$221 ($30 lab fee due at registration) Code: ccc.6 We’ll explore and create exciting chemical reactions, make colorful concoctions and bubbling brews. Amaze yourself with magical temperature changing baggie science or growing ghost crystals. Study the chemistry involved in not-so-simple things like chalk and soap, and even experiment with the chemistry used by artists, spies and detectives! Chemists bring home a project each day. Have you ever wished you could travel through time and space? On our very first day of camp we will strap on our imagination caps and build a Super Science Time Machine to explore the known universe. Time travelers will journey into the past to traverse our Milky Way, and examine the elements that make up the Universe as well as the human body, we are all made of stardust from exploded supernovas!. From Brain Goo to Mad Mucus, we’ll explore biology by traveling through the different parts of our bodies here in the present day. We will even travel into the future to learn about genetics while making our own baby dragons! Each camp day includes a project that campers will take home to remind them of their travels through time. Mad Machines & Robots! Ages: 6-11 years Dates: Mon. July 10– Fri. July 14 Times: 1:00—4:00 PM Res/Non: $208/$221 ($30 lab fee due at registration) Code: mmr.5 All junior Mad Science engineers will design and build structures using simple tools and their imaginations. Kids will even construct a geodesic dome big enough for all the campers to sit inside! Then the machine madness starts… Children will discover how many different machines, simple & complex, we use in our daily lives. Campers will design simple machines using pulleys, wedges, screws and levers and have fun learning how catapults work… then we move on to fun with the Mad Science robots! Each camper will build robots that you can keep, all the while learning the science of robotics. Who? How? What? Wow! Ages: 6-11 years Dates: Mon. July 31– Fri. Aug 4 Times: 9:00– 12:00 PM Res/Non: $208/$221 ($30 lab fee due at registration) Code: whw.8 Students will learn how animals track scents and follow a trail of amazing aromas. We’ll delve into natural dyes found in plants and even make our own paper! Blast off to fun when we explore rocket science and the physics of flight. Learn from the designs of great inventors like Alexander Graham Bell, Nikola Tesla, and Leonardo DaVinci. Discover the wonder of even our most basic cells. Take a journey through circuitry and test for “invisible” conductors. “Why? How? What? Wow!” is a fantastic week of experimenting with zany xylem, building your own rocket to launch and witnessing indoor lightning strikes! Each day campers will create and take home a project to remind them of what they learned each day of camp. 3,2,1 LIFT OFF! Flight Academy Ages: 6-11 years Dates: Mon. June 19– Fri. June 23 Times: 1:00-4:00 PM Res/Non: $208/$221 ($30 lab fee due at registration) Code: fac.2 Sign-up for Mad Science Flight Academy and explore the fundamentals of flight. Learn characteristics of the planets and discover the wonders of the Milky Way. See how air and wind affect kites, hot air balloons and parachutes. Discover the fundamentals of rocketry, the stages of rocket flight and experiment with huge water rocket launches. Each child will build their own launchable rockets to take home. Take-homes include the new Mad Science Skyblazer rocket, a rubber bandpowered airplane, a kite, a boomerang, a mini flying disc, and more! Secret Agent Lab Ages: 6-11 years Dates: Mon. July 10– Fri.
