IFAP Brings New Safety Services to the Northern Territory

Clare Martin, Chief Minister for the Northern Territory will officially open IFAP Darwin – North Australian Safety Centre at a special launch function to be held on Wednesday 21 June. This function will recognise IFAP’s first interstate facility following its amalgamation with the North Australian Safety Centre. The merge with NASC has enabled IFAP to offer its range of leading safety training and consulting services to industry in the Northern Territory and surrounding areas, including South East Asia. The launch will also be attended by IFAP’s President, Dan Smetana and Managing Director, Martin Ralph, as well as many key industry representatives from NT government, businesses and community groups. The event, scheduled to commence at 5.00pm, will also include the opening of the Bruce Perkins Memorial Fire Ground with a spectacular fire demonstration planned for sunset. The Bruce Perkins Memorial Fire Training Ground, named after one of the NT’s pioneering industry figures, has recently been refurbished and will offer a range of high quality practical and realistic training options for all industries. Craig Parrick, Operations Manager – North Australian Safety Centre, said, “This is an exciting move for IFAP. We have had solid clients in the Northern Territory as well as in Indonesia for some time and the new centre will enable us to be more accessible to them and to offer our services to many new clients as well. I am proud to be leading IFAP’s new interstate office. We will be working closely with industry, government and associated organisations to assist with the continuous improvement of health and safety in the Northern Territory.” IFAP Darwin is currently the only training organisation in the Northern Territory offering OPITO approved HUET training courses for the offshore oil and gas industry. The new facility will benefit from IFAP’s position as Australia’s leading provider of HUET and Oil and Gas Industry training courses, allowing strong industry knowledge and experience to be drawn from its state­of­the­art facility already operating in Fremantle, Western Australia.
IFAP’s courses are constantly updated to ensure they meet industry standards on an international level and they are proud to be able to offer two facilities with OPITO accredited training courses. The centre features a number of training rooms, an indoor pool for HUET and sea survival training, confined spaces training facilities and a recently re­furbished fire training ground.
