A special thank you to the volunteers who prepared and cleaned up before and after the event. Thank you to KMXT Public Radio and Kodiak Daily Mirror for covering the event. Thank you to all the nonprofit organizations who embraced the opportunity to share with our wonderful community the resources available for those in need and to help educate those who wanted to learn more at the Resource Fair that followed the march. Thank you to our Coast Guard family for their donations and for all the financial gifts from different community organizations that were put to good use in preparation for our annual march. We are enormously grateful for our partners, Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak, Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center, and Kodiak Area Native Association who helped make the 2017 “Choose Respect” March such a wonderful success! The goal APRIL of SAAM is to raise public • Crisis Line & Advocacy Training awareness about sexual violence and to educate • • • • communities on how to prevent it. 10am-3pm, Saturdays Mar18th-Apr 8th at KWRCC Child Abuse Prevention Month Sexual Assault Awareness Month Palm Sunday- April 9th Easter Sunday- April 16rd MAY • Kodiak Crab Festival Happy Easter BOROUGH ASSEMBLY PROCLAMATIONS On April 6th, at the Borough Assembly Regular Meeting, Borough Mayor, Dan Rohrer, will be dedicating two important proclamations. On behalf of KWRCC, Beth Davis, KWRCC Outreach Coordinator will be accepting the proclamation dedicating April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. On behalf of the Kodiak Child Advocacy Center, Joanna McFarlin, KCAC Director, will be accepting the proclamation dedicating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Show support this month by wearing teal colored ribbons or teal nail color and/or blue ribbons and/or blue nail color. All members of the community are invited to attend the Borough Assembly Meeting located in the Assembly Chambers in the Borough Building scheduled for 6:30pm. The meeting agenda can be accessed HERE.
