These are the Secondary School open
evenings still left in the order they fall:
Staindrop~ Saturday 1st Oct 10-2pm
Teesdale ~ Wednesday 5th October 6pm (this
obviously clashes with our residential trip and
so Teesdale School are going to arrange a
time for pupils from our school to visit.
Further details to follow next week)
Next week the Larks class will lead our
whole school assembly which will begin at
2.45pm
Why not come along to
Wednesday’s Zumba class run
by Karen Bell? We are opening the class up to parents for
free from 3.30– 4.30pm. The
children really enjoyed it so
I'm sure mums and dads
would too! Karen sends her
apologies for last Wednesday.
The film on Tuesday is Mulan 2 and it
will finish at 4.45pm
Well done to our house captains this year
who have been given this responsibility
because of the way they look after the
pupils of all ages within their house: Luke
Collings for the green house, Jessica Dean
for the red house, Ruby Dodds for the blues
and Faith Ndinguri for the black house.
Unfortunately, we will no longer be
doing the Bags2School collection on
4th October. We have done the collections in previous years and the clothing
was for recycling and so did not have
to be of any specific quality, this has
now changed as the clothing is reused,
not recycled. Sadly, a copy of our
newsletter was sent to the company
and the ensuing conversations were
quite unpleasant. Hence we will no
longer be doing this fundraising.
Please recycle the bags sent home!
Could all parents please ensure that their
child has a water bottle in school with
them each day. We have some at the
office for £1.50 but any water bottle is
fine to bring.
At the start of each year we like to
have an informal afternoon where parents can meet staff after school, just
to see how their child is settling, to
pass on anything their class teacher
might need to know and just to have a
few minutes for a cup of tea. This will
be on Monday 26th September from
3.30-5.30pm. All are most
welcome.
At the end of last term Rev Sheila visited our school to tell us about the
school she visits in Uganda. Our children were enthralled listening to her and
looking at her pictures. One of the things which most shocked the children
was that the children in this part of Uganda didn’t have shoes and so they had taken to
making shoes for themselves out of old tyres. As our harvest offering this year we
would like to have a ‘Shoesday Tuesday’. The children will wear whichever shoes they
want to (for one day only!!!) and bring in a donation for Rev Sheila to use to buy shoes
when she next visits the school. ‘Shoesday Tuesday’ will take place on Tuesday 27th
September.
As well as this we will be having our usual ‘Foodbank Friday’ on the last
Friday of the month. Please support by bringing packets and tins, which we
will deliver to the food bank to support those in severe need.
Messy Church is taking place on the Friday 30th September in Barney Methodist Church.
It starts at 3:30 and there will be lots of craft activities, games and a delicious homemade meal.
Everyone is very welcome. We finish at around 5:00. No charge, but donations welcome.

Please could all of the
forms recently sent
home, including photographic permissions
forms be returned to school
a.s.a.p. so that we can be sure
of your wishes when taking
pictures of children for the
website etc. Many thanks
We have been asked to be considerate to our local
residents and neighbours when picking up children
on an afternoon. Please could I ask that people do
not block garages and lanes when parking their
cars. Please utilise the parking permits, available
from our office, which can be used at any carpark
in the town over the picking up period. We have
asked if we can have additional permits sent also.
Thank you
Happy Birthday
To Chloe (7) who has her birthday this next week.
Have a great time !
