BOISE: SUMMER VISIT GUIDE It’s summertime in Boise and the fun is heating up. Boise’s warmest time of year is perfect for hiking, biking, and enjoying other outdoor activities during the cooler mornings. Then when things get too hot, retreat to one of Boise’s many air-conditioned museums, theaters, or restaurants. When the sun goes down, the action continues with a full slate of outdoor concerts and events, along with plenty of nightlife downtown. Along with scheduling a visit to Concordia University School of Law, here are a host of other activities to consider during a three-day visit to Idaho’s capital city and legal hub. DAY ONE: PICTURE-PERFECT Kick-off your day with a visit to the Concordia University School of Law campus, ideally situated in the heart of the state’s legal community. Take a tour, meet the faculty, ask questions, and learn more about the opportunities that await. If your appetite for law has made you hungry for brunch ala Boise, head to Moon’s Kitchen & Café for breakfast, brunch, and burgers – along with their world-famous milkshakes, with flavors including banana, mocha java, pineapple, and malt. Next, walk off a few calories at the BAM – the Boise Art Museum – where you can enjoy the permanent collection as well as current exhibits on folk art and contemporary ceramics. At the end of the day, chill out at the Payette Brewing Company’s tasting room and enjoy any of their house-made brews on tap – including Rustler, Mutton Buster, and Fly Line Vienna Lager. DAY TWO: SOMETHING’S FISHY Get a jump on the heat at the Morrison Knudsen Nature Center — offering a wildlife-in-the-city experience on a 4.6-acre site across the Boise River Greenbelt. The StreamWalk and Visitor Center provide a glimpse of Idaho’s many landscapes and abundant wildlife, while underwater viewing windows along the stream give you a fish-eye view of the aquatic world. From there, stay in the swim of things with a trip to the Aquarium of Boise, home to more than 250 species of animals and marine life. Had enough wildlife for one day? Go vegan – and relax – at the Shangri-La Tearoom and Vegetarian Restaurant. The matcha green tea ice cream is a fitting end to any day. DAY THREE: DOWN BY THE RIVER Rise and shine, then visit the Lucky Peak State Park to enjoy sandy beaches and clear cool water. The Spring Shores Trail offers lakeside access including boat ramps, a marina, and on-site watercraft rentals. After drying off, relive your childhood at the Idaho Candy Company where you can buy anything from a single chocolate bar to an entire tub of hand-crafted toffee. Spend an artistic evening at Boise Art Glass, where you can sign up for a one-hour class to learn how to blow beautiful glass beads, vases, and more – the perfect memento to remind you of your Boise experience. The best way to see if Concordia University School of Law is right for you is to visit. Plan a three-day trip and you’ll quickly see why Boise is consistently ranked as one of America’s best places to live. LAW.CU-PORTLAND.EDU
