Allegro Dance School Competitive Team Information 2013-2014 Dancers that register for the Competitive Program must be selected from the mandatory audition that will take place in the summer of 2013. Competitive students will train in Jazz, Tap and Arco. The competitive program will only compete at local competitions. If you are register for our Competitive Program, this is what to expect: - Dancing 2 to days per week for a total of 4.5 to 5.5 hours. Dancers will dance in companies according to age. - Extra ballet at least once a week. - Extra rehearsals will take place on weekends. - Attendance is mandatory for competitions, extra rehearsals, summer workshops, shows, appearances and fundraising events. - 2 - 3 Mandatory Local Competitions in March, April & May. - 2 - 3 Mandatory competitive routines - Entry fees for competitions are extra - Costume deposits, the first deposit of $180.00 due by November 1st, and is 100% non refundable. Costumes cost are approximately $180.00 each. - All Dancers will require Allegro jackets and uniform Please note that Allegro Dance School has no control over competition schedules and will not know the exact time and dates until 3 weeks prior to the competition. Sometimes the competition event may start on a Thursday or Friday, during the day. Therefore, students/parents may have to miss a day/two of school/work. COMPETITION FEES **All class fee separate from our regular dance program. There are three terms during the year, payment st st st payable in September 1 , December 1 and March 1 . **Our program will finish on the last day of competition, but there will be practice before the June recital. The first deposit of $180.00 per costume is due by November 1st, the remaining balance of the costume is due by January 1st and is 100% non refundable. Allegro Dance School Entry Fees All competitions entry fees are due on November 1st. Competition entry fees range from $45.00 to $50.00 per group dance, depending on the competition event. SOLO, DUET & TRIO INFORMATION Dancers who are approached to perform a solo/duet/trio may submit the Solo/Duet/Trio Request Form to the office before October 1st. Solo/duet/trio is designed to better dancing skills and technique, in addition to building confidence. Dancers need to have strong technique, confidence, stage presence and are willing to work hard. They are required to attend extra lessons to learn and practice choreography. FEES (Solo/Duet/Trio/Small Group) Dancers are required to pay an additional Choreography Fee, Entry Fee (Approx. $60.00 for Duets/Trios, and $80.00 for Solos per competition) Costume Fee ($180.00 + tax). Choreography Fee (included 4 hrs class, need to pay extra if need more hrs: solo $70 per hr, duet/trio $40 per hr) SOLO DUET/TRIO SMALL/LARGE GROUP $400 $245 $130 st *Choreography fee is due upon registration. Entry Fee is due in full in November 1 . Costume fee is due in two instalments: the first deposit of $200.00 per costume is due by November 1st; the remaining balance of the st costume is due by January 1 . All fee is 100% non refundable. Space is limited and not all who submit a request will be given a solo/duet/trio this season. This applies to only students who are asked to do a solo/duet/trio. RULES AND REGULATION All members are expected to be aware of and follow these guidelines, with no exceptions. 1) Any and all absences must be called in to the studio office, OR the student’s teacher must be notified prior to class. This includes both weekly technique and competition choreography lessons. If 24 hours notice is not given for any solo, duet/trio classes, a penalty fee will be charged on your account. 2) Attendance is mandatory for all competitions, extra rehearsals, summer course, and shows. Frequent absences will mean removal from the Competitive Team. No makeup classes. All fee is 100% non refundable. 3) Proper dance attire is to be worn in all classes. 4) Hair must be tied back securely; all loose hair should be pinned and off of face. *** Hair must be in a proper bun for ballet, jazz & tap classes. Please no short hair for our competitive team. 5) All members of the competitive team must be present at the competition location dressed and ready with hair, costume, and make-up at least 2 hours prior to scheduled dance time. 6) An adult must be present with the student at all times to ensure they are prepared at all competitions. Once the teacher has arrived to take the students back stage, then the supervisor is free to proceed into the audience. 7) All students in the Competitive Team will be required to attend extra rehearsals called at teacher’s discretion. These may take place on weekends and may be scheduled on school holidays/P.A. Days.
