MAJOR FEATURES
• Structural loads of the proposed concrete shelter are as follows:
− 200 pounds-per-square-foot distributed floor loading while on foundation
− 125 pounds-per-square-foot distributed floor loading while lifting
− 100 pounds-per-square-foot distributed roof load
− 150 mph wind load
− Seismic Zone 4
• Exterior, exposed aggregate or buff color with clear-coat seal
• Shelter walls are capable of stopping 30.06-rifle fire per UL 752 requirements, excluding shelter door
• Shelter 4 in. concrete walls have a two-hour fire rating
• Interior walls and ceiling are insulated with hardboard insulation, R-11
• Interior walls and ceiling are sheathed with 1/2 in. white, Nu-Poly board

breaker, NEMA 1 enclosure, and circuit breakers for all installed equipment
− Ten (10) ac 20 A specification-grade duplex receptacles and one (1) 20 A specification-grade exterior
ground fault duplex receptacle
− One (1) ac single-throw safety (disconnect) switch, 400 A, 225 A fused, 240 Vac, double pole,
NEMA 3R enclosure
− One (1) ac double-throw manual transfer switch, 400 A, 240 Vac, nonfused, double pole
− One (1) dc distribution panel, 125 Vdc, 30 A and 20 A 2-pole branch breakers, and circuit breakers
for all installed equipment
− One (1) dc single throw safety (disconnect) switch, 400 A, 125 Vdc, fused, double pole
• Lighting—Four (4) 64 W, 4-foot ceiling-wall mount and one (1) 2-foot fluorescent light fixtures and
two (2) 100 W metal halide exterior door lights
• A/C & heating unit—One (1) nominal 12,000 Btu/hr wall mount A/C unit, with low ambient and
compressor anti-cycle controls, integral 5 kW resistance heat strip and washable dust filter. Unit sizing
is site- and customer-specification dependent.
• Grounding system
− Two (2) NEMA pads, located opposite enclosure corners, external grounding connection point
− 4/0 AWG stranded bare copper halo, run-through cable tray, between the NEMA ground pads
− 2 AWG stranded bare copper jumper between 4/0 AWG and panel ground bars
• Cable ladder/tray, 18 in. W x 4 in. H, above panels and down exterior wall, cable entry hood
• Battery system
− 71 Ah, nickel cadmium cells, with Seismic Zone 4 battery rack
− Battery charger, microprocessor controlled, 120/240 Vac input, 130 Vdc, 12 A output with battery
eliminator filter, temperature compensation, alarm monitoring, serial DNP3 communications
• Protection and control panels—One (1) to five (5) 24 in. D x 32 in. W x 90 in. H swing rack panels

• Alarm devices, contacts wired per customer specifications (no audible, visual or remote provisions)
