Single – Celled and Multi - celled Organisms Mycoplasma – smallest organism discovered. Multicellular – organism made up of two or more cells. Ex. Plants or animals Unicellular – organisms made up of only a single cell. Mycoplasma is an example. Most microscopic organisms (micro organisms) are unicellular. Unicellular organism is complex, it must have all six Characteristics of Life. Multicellular organism has several specialized cells which depend on each other for survival. Common Unicellular Organisms Amoeba – live in water. Move and trap food by using projections called Pseudopods. Pg 114 – Figure 2.23 Draw and Label 1 Paramecium – live in water.
