New for this year, you can visit the Vicus - a civilian camp - to find out more about life on the Wall. Please note the living history camps close at 2.00pm today. Drop in to the Mansio, a travelling structure that references the Roman teahouses and official stopping places along a Roman road. Explore the structure, relax in the seating area, and enjoy a specially commissioned film and poetry by leading contemporary poets and authors. 10.30am 11.00am 11.30am 12.00noon CHAPEL FIELD Visit the birds at the Roman Hawk House and chat to the falconarius and his companion. There will be a beautiful collection of hawks including Gyr, Saker, Peregrine and the most important Roman symbol; the Eagle. Please keep dogs on leads at all times. KIDS’ ZONE Drop in and meet our Family Interpretation team for some arts and crafts activities. You can also let them know your views on Birdoswald Roman Fort. Meet our Roman potter as he displays a variety of different tools and techniques, and find out what different pots from the period were used for. Stop by to visit Company of Artisans as they demonstrate a variety of traditional Roman skills and crafts including stone carving and bread making.
