In times of increasing energy costs
and scarcer resources, it is more
important than ever to use these in
the best way possible and to minimize
CO2 emissions. Making steam: Spilling
steam engines and steam turbines offer
you optimum solutions for decentralized
energy production, particularly in the

Biomass
from trimmings and waste such as that
from timber, rice husks, coffee husks and
plants grown for fuel.
Waste heat
from processes with a significant amount of
waste heat, such as from glass production, gas
turbines, diesel engines and waste combustion
plants.
And particularly when used with
Combined heat and power
generation
for maximum utilization of the primary energy
input. Similarly fuel-efficient is its use in industrial
steam supply networks running on fossil fuel-fired
boiler systems. Here the Spilling combined heat and
power generating system is installed and operated in
parallel with the existing pressure-reducing station to
boost electricity generating capacity.
Spilling steam engines and steam turbines are already being
successfully used in a number of companies, such as in the
timber and paper industry, in the glass and ceramics industry,
in public utilities, in the chemical industry and refineries, the
food industry, in rice mills and palm oil mills.
If steam is required at various pressures in production processes,
it is possible to produce high-pressure steam economically using

Flexibility
By means of a simple modular system consisting of
standardized components with one to six cylinders and
fifteen different cylinder types, Spilling adapts its steam
engines to various operational conditions in the best way
possible. Depending on operational pressure ratios, the
steam is expanded in one or several stages. Multi-stage
engines allow for controlled extraction of steam for
defined pressures.
Efficiency
The special system for regulating steam supply
combined with the mechanical advantages of the
piston engine ensure optimum working efficiency,
a broad control range and outstanding performance
under partial load conditions.
State-of-the-art technology
Spilling steam engines work without the need
for lubrication of the cylinders with oil, thus
keeping the steam free of oil.

Variable and geared towards application, the Spilling steam
turbine line has an impressively broad scope of application,
from which exactly the right model may be selected for every
conceivable customer need. You will gain from our
Versatility
The optimum turbine may be selected from two different
basic series and perfectly adapted to the respective
operating conditions and customer requirements by means
of its modular configuration. Spilling turbines are impulse
turbines with an axial construction.
Flexibility
Simple to set up, flexible to operate: the single-stage
turbines of the STS series are geared units with an
overhung design, which are fitted with single-row or
dual-row Curtis wheels.
Efficiency
Powerful and efficient, the size and number of
stages of the multi-stage turbines in the STM series
are adjusted according to the pressure gradients
to be used.
Adaptability
Adding the optional nozzle section regulation
enables the best possible handling of partial
loads. A configuration using two turbines in
a tandem assembly allows for controlled
steam extraction for both back pressure and
condensing turbines. Multi-stage turbines
are available with bleed taps.
