Improve gray balance and color consistency.
Xerox SmartPress Production Consultants
are G7 Experts and ready to help.
Why become a G7 Master Printer?
Print Buyers who seek consistency and competitive pricing now look for
print providers that have become G7 Master Printers, signifying consistent
and exceptional print quality. The G7 Master Printer Program provides
print buyers with the confidence that their important color work will print
consistently, regardless of which G7 Master Printer they choose.
If you are a printer, prepress house or designer who wants to learn to
proof or print to the new G7 methodology, a Xerox G7 Expert can get
you there. The G7 process control methodology was developed by
IDEAlliance® to prescribe how to use the most modern technology,
techniques, process controls and standards to reliably produce highquality printing with a close visual appearance from proof to press
and from press to press. To be qualified as a G7 Master Printer, you
must employ a G7 Expert to guide you through the qualification
process and to verify your qualification.
G7 Master Printer qualification will benefit you

What is a Xerox G7 Expert?
Steps in the qualification process include:
Xerox SmartPress Production Consultants
(SPPCs) are G7 Experts. They are an elite group
of professionals who are experts in the field of
color management, process and quality control
for proofing and printing equipment. They are
trained in the new GRACoL® press calibration
process and have the ability to analyze and take
corrective action with color and print related
issues. Furthermore, Xerox G7 Experts are
certified to qualify G7 Master Printers.
• Completing a pre-qualification packet and
checklist prior to our arrival.
How can Xerox G7 Experts
help my company become
a G7 Master Printer?
To become a G7 Master Printer, your shop must
be qualified by an IDEAlliance G7 Expert. These
are color management professionals who have
been trained in hands-on sessions and are
certified by IDEAlliance to teach G7 techniques.
Xerox G7 Experts are uniquely qualified to train
printers, creatives and prepress houses in the
G7 Method and are authorized to act as
the qualification agents for IDEAlliance G7
Master Printers.
GRACoL and SWOP® print specifications
bring appearance metrics to the print management process. Built using the G7Method,
these specifications go beyond single-channel
density metrics to ensure that process colors
overprint neutral and balanced. The result is
improved gray balance, color stability, and color
appearance matching across multiple printing
processes including Electrophotography (Xerox
Digital Color), Inkjet, Offset Sheetfed, Offset
Web, and Flexo print.
• Once the Xerox G7 Expert has arrived, the
consultant will educate you in the G7 process
and work with you to set up your presses and
proofing to support the G7 method.
• Completing an Equipment Audit and
Application form to submit to IDEAlliance.
• Record before and after measurements
of the Neutral Print Density Curves (NPDC)
from each system at your location (qualification is location based, not organizationally
based). You will also work with your Xerox G7
Expert to submit your curve measurements,
sample proofs and/or press sheets
to IDEAlliance.
