The Prout School Performing Arts Department
presents Two One-Act Plays:
7pm
Darcy’s
Cinematic Life
and...
Director’s Notes
Welcome to an evening of theatre, featuring two separate
productions and casts. First up, a show featuring our
underclassmen about the struggles of being a teenage girl and
how Darcy uses her imagination to get through this “special”
time in her life.
Then we move to Shakespeare with a twist: the classic story of
Romeo and Juliet, with a distinctly Seuss-ian point of view. This
show stars our upperclassmen and will be taken in March to the
Rhode Island Drama Festival, which we will be hosting right
here in the Prout Auditorium!
We will follow all the rules of the festival this weekend as we
prepare for the competition. Therefore, we are not allowed to
use microphones and must keep the entire production—set up
and take down included—to under 60 minutes.
It has been wonderful to be able to showcase both our upper and
underclassmen and to challenge them with these very creative
and collaborative pieces.
Coming up right after the February break will be the auditions
for our spring musical, Joseph and Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat. I encourage all students who are not participating in
a sport to join us. It is great fun and we take everyone into the
production.
Enjoy the show!
