The Voyage of Odysseus Scale Drawing Project Math 6 – Mrs. Robinson 25 Points Assessment – Due on Thursday, December 5, 2013 Please read all directions carefully. You are responsible for holding onto your own copy of these directions. Essential Skills: Scale Drawing, Ratio and Proportion, Measurement, Fractions, Mapping and Mediterranean Geography. The warrior Odysseus left his home in Ithaca and successfully plundered Troy. His ten year voyage home is the subject of Homer’s epic poem, “The Odyssey.” Your task is draw an accurate map of the area, plot the path of Odysseus voyage and use ratio and proportion to calculate how far Odysseus actually travelled. STEP 1 – To be completed in class. Draw a map twice the size of the one given to you. You will use a 1” grid. You must include and label Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica and all major Greek islands. You MUST include a scale (centimeters to kilometers) on your new map. STEP 2 – Using the following website: maptal.es/tales/15#step3 locate and accurately label each stop of Odysseus Voyage. STEP 3 – Plot Odysseus’ voyage using a ruler to draw very straight lines.
