Sketch Book for thumbnails and notes
Drawing Paper (Strathmore is a good brand. DO NOT BUY sketch paper) 14”
x 17” pad or larger
Graphite pencils, HB, H, B and 2B with sharpening tool
Kneaded Eraser
Drawing Board (we have some in the studio for student use)
Clips or Masking Tape
Optional Tools - Come to class to see examples of these items, and only purchase if
you speak to Sarah and you’ll be using these items.

Your choice of primed panel or stretched canvas to paint on, 8” x 10” or as
large as 20” x 20”
Brushes – at least 6 long handled flat bristle brushes, sizes around 4 or 6
Brushes – two smalle round soft bristle brushes size 2
Paint
Brand is your choice, I recommend Williamsburg and Gamblin
Consult with Sarah on Colors when building your paint collection. Some colors are
better for figure, some for landscape etc. You won’t likely need to purchase ALL the
colors right away. Start with the first three.



