Freedom for seven
The Citroën Grand C4 Picasso’s
exceptional cabin space comfortably
accommodates seven adults in its three
rows of seats, and all rear seats can
disappear or spring into life as required.
All second row seats are the same width,
while third row seats are easy to deploy
by pulling the strap in a single upward
movement – it’s supremely flexible in a
moment, with no need to remove seats
and no hassle. Access to the third row is
made effortless by the two outer second
row seats, which tilt forward. There’s no
compromise anywhere, this is freedom
and luxury for seven.

In-flight comfort
Front seat backrests are fitted with aircraft
style tables for row two passengers.
They’re shaped to fit the curve of the
seatback so that no legroom is sacrificed.
Store more
The upper section of the dashboard
provides two large lidded storage spaces
at either end, lined with slip-proof fabric
to prevent belongings rattling and moving
about. On the front passenger side is the
illuminated glove compartment, which
comprises of two useful spaces for smaller
everyday objects.
The load lover
In 5-seat configuration, the Citroën
C4 Picasso has an impressively spacious
boot. Approximately 500 litres beneath
the luggage cover, and when all the seats
are folded away, that grows to an amazing
1734 litres capacity. The Citroën
Grand C4 Picasso provides 576 litres
with five seats in place, and with all seats
folded, an amazing 1951 litres – nearly
2m3! A handy stowage net allows rear seat
passengers (or row two seat passengers
in the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso) to store
personal objects safely, while carefully
placed securing hooks in the boot open
up numerous configurations.
Chill out zone
Models with the 6-speed Electronic
Gearbox System can offer even more
usable space, with a storage compartment
in the lower central part of the dashboard.
The compartment is also a cooler,
and can chill a 1.5litre or two 0.5litre
bottles, even when there’s warm air
blowing through the cabin. Open the
compartment and the lid becomes a tray
with twin can holders.

row three. In an instant, the outer seat
cushions in row two lift upwards, allowing
you to slide the whole seat forward with one
smooth movement – now just step inside.

You can control precisely how much light
bathes the cabin, because the panoramic
wide angle windscreen features two
independent sliding sunblinds, which
you can instantly manually adjust. The
rear windows have retractable sunblinds
with integrated rollers to filter light while
maintaining a clear view out. Perfect
natural lighting for all – it’s one of life’s
real luxuries.

Driving and other important information
appears on the bold, dashboard centre
screen. Different information is instantly
selectable, and light intensity can be

distribute air so effectively through the
cabin that the driver and front passenger

regulates each driving wheel independently
in snow, ice, and rain giving the Citroën

improved traction in difficult conditions.
SOME ASSISTANCE
Citroën C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso
are fitted with a Hill Start Assist function
that helps the driver to set off or manoeuvre
on gradients. When the brake pedal is
released, the ESP automatically maintains
a stationary position for up to two seconds,
offering the driver the time to move their
foot from the brake to the accelerator
without the vehicle moving forwards
or backwards on a slope.
Stable is safe
All Citroën C4 Picassos are inherently safe,
thanks to their sophisticated suspension design,
but the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
adds a further level of security. By monitoring
progress through a bend, it senses whether
oversteer or understeer is developing, modifying
engine torque and applying a precise measure
of braking for ultimate stability and control.
ABS + EBD + EBA
Standard ABS electronically regulates braking
to avoid locking wheels, so the driver can still
safely steer in an emergency. Connected to the
ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
ensures that braking pressure is evenly applied
to all wheels so that should the need arise, all
braking power can effectively be used. In an
emergency there is also Emergency Braking
Assistance (EBA). This technology automatically
maximises braking effort when it detects strong
input. This compensates for the fact that many
people don’t brake enough under pressure and
it reduces stopping distances.

e-HDi Diesel ENGINE
The e-HDi 110 Airdream engine is
capable of 58.9 mpg and CO2 emissions
of just 125g/km combined with the EGS
gearbox on C4 Picasso. It has a reversible
starter-alternator that works in tandem
with an e-booster to provide a seamless
Stop & Start function. Going further than
other similar systems, the e-HDi’s Stop &
Start puts the engine into idle mode while
decelerating before coming to a complete
standstill. This reduces consumption by
15% in urban driving.
HIGH-PRESSURE DIRECT INJECTION
DIESEL ENGINE
Our HDi diesel engines operate with
the fuel under extremely high pressure,
enabling microscopically precise injection
control. With this level of management it’s
possible to inject at different times during
the same engine stroke allowing total
control over the combustion process.
This has allowed our engineers to reduce
carbon monoxide emissions by 40%,
unburned hydrocarbons by 50% and engine
particulates by 60%. Fuel consumption
is 20% lower than a prechamber diesel
engine, resulting in an equivalent reduction
in CO2 emissions and thanks to the torque
available at low engine speed it could be
argued that driveability is now better than in
petrol engined cars.

A Citroën innovation that makes for safer
driving in every way. Whilst the rim of the
steering wheel turns normally, the centre
hub remains static which means that all
the audio, information and driving controls
operated from here stay in exactly the same
place. It also means that the driver’s airbag
can be specially sculpted to deploy more
favourably than the round ones necessary
in cars with conventional steering wheels.
Our unique DPFS collects exhaust
particulates (soot) that would have
been bound for the air around us
and burns them off at 550 degrees C.
This means that ‘black smoke’ is
eliminated completely. And because
the filter is constantly burning the
particulates it is self-cleaning and
requires no maintenance.
As drivers we find it difficult to instinctively
brake very hard, but this is often what is
needed in those rare emergency situations.
The EBA system recognises our ‘attempt’
to brake hard and in combination with the
ABS and EBD systems instantly applies the
maximum stopping power possible.
A revolutionary alternative to conventional
gearboxes, Citroën’s innovative EGS
allows you to operate in two modes. In
‘M’ mode, gear shifts are made using
either the fingertip paddles by the steering
wheel or the sequential lever (without the
need for the driver to engage the clutch).
In ‘A’ mode the gearbox will control gear
changes for you, maximising your drive
comfort and optimising fuel consumption
– to the order of 3 to 5% lower than a
conventional manual gearbox, also
helped by a sixth gear.
eMyWay SATELLITE
NAVIGATION SYSTEM
The eMyWay satellite navigation system
features a 7” screen and covers UK and
Europe. Its in-built memory provides
information about speed limits and lets
you know which lane to use when reaching
complex intersections. The system also
lets you adapt your route based on
traffic conditions, with data provided by
Trafficmaster and ViaMichelin in the UK
and France.

function with USB socket and jack to plug
in a portable MP3 player.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING
SYSTEM (ABS)
Computer-controlled braking assistance
designed to prevent the wheels from locking
under extreme braking. This enables the
car to continue being steered and therefore
controlled during this braking incident.
Citroën C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso’s
ABS system is further enhanced with EBA
and EBD (see below).
ELECTRONIC BRAKEFORCE
DISTRIBUTION (EBD)
A conventional ABS system cannot account
for any of the four wheels wanting to lock
more quickly than the others (for example,
two of the wheels may be on snow and two
on tarmac). EBD reads the deceleration rate
of each wheel individually and applies the
ABS principles accordingly.
ELECTRONIC STABILITY
PROGRAMME (ESP)
This is computer-controlled traction
assistance and is provided primarily through
the braking systems. The ESP’s control
unit constantly compares where the driver
intends going (through the position of the
steering wheel) with where the vehicle is
actually going and, if necessary, makes
speed corrections to each wheel individually
through braking or engine torque to keep
the vehicle ‘in line’.
ISOFIX
A standardised and more simple method for
installing child seats, each seat is ‘clicked’
into place via a three point system.
On Citroën C4 Picasso and Grand C4
Picasso’s Isofix is installed on the two outer
rear seats.
