Country Question 1 - Mobile International Festival

MOBILE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL SCAVENGER HUNT It is highly recommended that you split this up into individuals or teams of students. Assign them to countries on all continents so that they will visit all areas of the festival while searching for the answers. When you return to class then they can make presentations on the answers they found so the entire class can benefit as you go through the list of countries. This year we have added some distances and size questions which allow for some visual effects if you have a world map for students to find the countries, locate the US and Mobile and then determine the distances (remember the world is round so the shortest is along the curvature of the earth). Explore distances and time when traveling – short versus travel time, crossing the International Date Line (where is it and why?), why the time variations and how the earth rotates, etc. PLEASE CHECK THE DATA FACTS – ESPECIALLY REMEMBER TIME ZONES AND DIFFERENCES MAY BE DIFFERENT AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE YEAR IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.
