President’s Message
Dear Anonymous:
Thank you for your letters. The
concerns you’ve expressed are very
important to me and our community. They are obviously very important to you or you wouldn’t have
taken the time to write. I would seriously like to help.
There’s a problem though, when I
receive a letter with no name or return address it creates a one-way
conversation. I hear your concerns
but you don’t give me the chance to
offer solutions, explain what we’re
trying to do about the matter you
bring to my attention or to get your
ideas about how we can do a better
job.
respect your privacy. If you don’t
want your name given to the police or shared with anyone else,
your name will only be known to
me. But I would like to talk to
you so together we can come up
with a solution.
Thanks and I hope this letter finds
you in good health

Household Hazardous Waste Program
Changes in 2010
The popular Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program will
continue in 2010. Hamilton County residents can drop off hazardous products, such as automotive fluids, pesticides, and
fertilizers that could be dangerous to dispose of in the regular
trash. Using the free HHW Drop-off:

protects waste haulers

avoids accidental poisonings

prevents hazardous waste from being
poured down the drain

In order to reduce costs, the HHW program will no longer accept latex paint for drop-off. Latex paint is not hazardous
and can be thrown away with the regular trash once solid. Dry
the paint out with sand, sawdust, or kitty litter and leave the lid
off so waste haulers can see that paint is dry. If the gallon is
full, the can in good condition and the label is unpainted, Building Value, a materials reuse store, may accept the paint as a
donation. Residents should always call ahead before dropping
off paint at Building Value (475-6783).
The HHW program will still accept oil and other non-latex
paint. See below for a complete list of acceptable
items:

Yard Waste Collection Reinstated in Cincinnati!

As many of you probably know, municipal yard waste collection was suspended last August in the City of Cincinnati due
to budgetary constraints. Since then, Cincinnatians have
struggled to compost such massive amounts of branches and
clippings at their homes.

Unfortunately, much of the organic waste has been placed the
landfills, filling up valuable space that should be used for nonbiodegradable materials. When yard waste and other organic
materials are put into the landfills they break down much
more slowly than in a compost pile and fail to add any nutrients back into the earth.

But good news is on the horizon! Beginning in April of this
year, Cincinnati’s yard waste collection started up
again! You can place your yard waste in the recycled yard
waste bags on the same day as your trash pickup and they
will be removed just like they used to be!
Guidelines
Who Do I Call?

trash collection day beside your household trash and green
recycling bin.

than 2 ft. x 4 ft. and individual tree limbs should be no larger
than 6 inches in diameter.
* Raking leaves into the street or right-of-way is prohibited
