Rules of Play
Option 1: First to Finish, 2-4 players: Players take turns to roll the dice or spin the spinner. The number on the dice
is assumed to be a decimal value. For example, rolling a 6 on a dice means 0.6. And, rolling a 10 on a 10-sided dice
means 1 (one). The player must then move to the square, which when added to your rolled/spun number, adds up to
1. If a player lands on a white circle, they can climb to its connected space. If they land on a black circle, they must fall
to its connected space. The winner is the first to finish.
Option 2: Cumulative, 2-4 players: Rules are the same as above, however, players must make a note of the decimal
value of the square on which they land. Every time a move is made, the decimal value must be added cumulatively onto
the previous recorded value. The winner is the player who finishes with the lowest (or highest) value.
Option 3: Equal Turns, 2-4 players: Rules are the same as Option 2, but the players take a set number of turns. We
recommend ten. The winner is the player who finishes after ten turns each with the lowest (or highest) value.
Option 4: Single Player: We recommend the use of Board FIVE for single player. The object of a single player game
would be similar to ‘Option 3: Equal Turns’ rules above, but the player would engage in multiple games. A teacher
or tutor may wish to explore a number of ideas; such as how many rolls it takes to get to the end, what you need
to roll consistently to get the lowest (or highest) finishing score, and the exploration of the concept of ‘chance’ and
‘probability’ in playing a game of this type. A single player version of the game is also great for simple decimal number
practice and revision.
