I acknowledge receipt of your Building Notice deposited with this Authority on 08-Apr-2015 in
accordance with Regulation 12(2a) of the Building Regulations 2010 (as amended).
The Notice has been formally ACCEPTED by the Council.
I would remind you of the requirements of Regulation 16 of the Building Regulations 2010(as
amended) ‘Notice of commencement and completion of certain stages of the works’. The
policy of this Authority is that 24 hours notice is required for commencement of the work,
which can be by telephone; in writing or e-mail at [email protected].
Contacting the above before 09.30 hours on the morning of the required inspection would be
acceptable for the other stages of work.
In addition to the above I would point out the provision of Regulation 13. (3), of the Building
Regulations 2010 (as amended). Accordingly my Building Control Officer has the option,
should the nature of the works require it, to ask for whatever plans and details are necessary
to discharge their function.
Planning permission may be required for the works. You are responsible for verifying whether
this is so and securing any necessary permission before work commences. You should
subsequently ensure that, where required, the works are carried out in accordance with that
permission.
John Millar, Strategic Director, Environment, Economy and Housing
BAK1
I look forward to your co-operation in these matters during the course of construction of the
described works.
Yours faithfully,
Craig Worgan
Building Control Manager
YOUR ATTENTION IS DRAWN TO THE FOLLOWING NOTE
From 1st October 2011 the Water Industry (Schemes for Adoption of Private Sewers)
Regulations 2011 came into force and change the designation of most private sewers and
lateral drains. This legislation is enforced by Severn Trent Water Ltd.
I would, therefore, suggest you investigate the current and proposed drainage arrangement to
ascertain with Severn Trent Water Ltd whether the proposals are now to be built over or within
an easement of a public sewer under the new designation. If this is found to be the case, then
a Building over Agreement may be required by the relevant Water Authority.
Please note that this legislation is NOT the responsibility of Dudley Building Control
and ALL correspondence and enquiries should be addressed to Severn Trent at the
