St. Mary's School – Teachers vs. Students
Volleyball Games Becomes a Family
Affair
St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point ended their annual Catholic Schools Week activities with
their traditional “teachers versus students” volleyball game. This year was bittersweet, however, as six of the
staff members have their own children as eighth graders who will graduate in the spring. The teachers
created shirts with their own children’s baby picture on the front, and dressed up for fun. Each eighth grader
had the chance to rotate in to play against the teachers, and the final game was played by the parents versing
their own kids. This is the largest amount of teachers with their own children in the same grade.
St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point has been educating children in the Roman Catholic tradition
since 1872. The school offers grade levels Pre-Kindergarten through eight. St. Mary’s faculty teaches a rich
curriculum supported by cutting-edge technology. The school is a recipient of the state of Indiana’s highest
accolades, including an “A” grade and Four-Star status. St. Mary’s is currently accepting applications for new
students in grades PK-8 for the 2016-2017 school year. To learn more about St. Mary’s School visit
