Scale Drawing Project

Scale Drawing Project
Overview of Project: You are going to enlarge a candy wrapper or comic strip so you can demonstrate your knowledge of
scales and scale factor.
Steps:
1. Use an empty candy wrapper or ONE panel of a comic strip to cut out and use for your drawing.
2. Construct a grid of ¼ inch squares on the wrapper/comic using a sheet of graph paper along the width and length of
the wrapper/comic. USE A RULER! For help, tape your wrapper/comic to a piece of graph paper and continue the lines.
You will need to turn in this wrapper/comic so DON’T LOSE IT.
3. Determine your scale factor for your enlarged image. Your scale factor MUST be between 5 and 8, inclusive.
4. Complete the Measurements page to determine the dimensions of your new image. You will find the dimensions of
your enlarged image and well as the measurements of two items within your image.
5. Draw new grid lines on a piece of large sheet paper (provided by your teacher) to produce your enlarged image. USE
A RULER!
6. Copy each box of your original wrapper/comic on to your enlargement paper.
7. Color your enlarged picture exactly the same as the original.
8. Write the scale and the scale factor in the bottom corner of your enlarged image.
