Due: January 7, 2011
Mapping History of the World From 1-1750CE
The need for a global perspective is essential to AP World History. Many times the events, people, and places we discuss
and read about are done in such a way that they are “isolated” by the very nature of presentation. This activity is
designed to proved you with the global perspective of the entire first semester of world history.
The Assignment:
1. Draw the major trade routes of the world. Label each route and the critical cities involved in the trade. Your
routes must include all the types of goods being transported along the route and should contain both directions,
to and from. Examples: Silk Road, Indian Ocean trade, Columbian Exchange…
2. Draw and label the spread of the five major religions, including any of the important sects or divisions within
those religions. Examples: Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox split of Christianity, Sunni-Shiite split of Islam…
3. Draw and label the spread of migration of all cultural groups. Examples: Mongol, African slaves, Europeans,
Saxons…
4. Label and outline the extent of all of the empires from this period. Examples: Alexander, Roman, Han, Persian,
Mongol, Spanish…
5. Draw and label the routes of Exploration. Examples: Zheng He, Columbus, Diaz, de Gama…
The finished product must be legible!!! It must contain a legend for clarification and BE NEAT!!!! This is a major grade
assignment and will be assessed based on the amount and totality of the information. Have a great Christmas Break!!
