First Generation
1. Mary Hackett was born on 1 Aug 1728 in Salisbury, Mass. She died in 1778 in New
Brunswick, Canada.
Mary married Elijah Estabrooks son of Elijah Estabrook and Hannah Daniell on 14 Nov
1750 in Haverhill, Mass. Elijah was born in 1727/1728 in England. He died in Jul 1796 in
Swan Creek, Sunbury Co., New Brunswick, Canada. He was buried in Garrison
Graveyard, Jemseg, Queens Co., New Brunswick, Canada.
ELIJAH ESTABROOK(S), was born in 1727/28 in England while his parents
were there visiting relatives. They all returned to Rhode Island in 1730. His
family moved to Sherburne, Mass in 1733. After his father's death in 1740, his
uncle Joseph Frost was his guardian. Elijah stayed in Sherburne until 1746. Elijah
married in 1750 in Haverhill, Mass. to #1 MARY HACKETT. They lived in East
Haverhill, Mass from 1750-1757. They moved to Boxford, Mass. in 1757. Elijah
served from 1758 to 1760 in Col. Prebble's Regiment of Provincials, and fought at
Ticonderoga. (He was sent to Halifax in 1759, and remained there until Nov. 25,
1760; during this time he became a sergeant.) Elijah and Mary moved to Halifax
and then to Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1763. They moved to Portland
Point on the Saint John River in 1765. In 1773, they bought 250 acres of land in
Conway, near the mouth of the river. (An old census, dated Aug. 1, 1775, shows
he had cleared 7 acres of land and built a log cabin). In 1776, Elijah took part in
an expedition against the British at Fort Cumberland. Elijah and Mary moved to
Gagetown in 1777. After Mary's death, Elijah married in 1778 in Gagetown, New
Brunswick, Canada to #2 SARAH HAMMOND. (She had previously been
married September 24, 1764 in Marblehead, Mass. to James Oakes.) Elijah and
Sarah moved to Cambridge (Waterbury) in 1787. He was a farmer and a member
of the Congregational Church. He died shortly before Aug. 11, 1796 at the home
of his son John in Swan Creek, Queens Co., New Brunswick, Canada. Elijah was
buried at Mill Cove. (In 1932, the gravesite was on the farm of Jefferson
Dykeman; the tombstone was no longer there).
NOTE: The family originally spelled their last name ESTABROOK, when in
Massachusetts. Sometime after this branch moved to New Brunswick, Canada,
the name became ESTABROOKS or ESTABROOKE. Some branches, returned
to the original spelling of ESTABROOK at a later date, including Elijah's
youngest child Hammond, who moved to Aroostook County, Maine with most of
his children.

On Sept. 15, 1800 he was ordained pastor of the Baptist Church in Canning
(formerly Waterborough), New Brunswick, Canada. In 1808 he obtained land on
the Little River.
Elijah married Mary Whittimore daughter of Hezekiah Whittimore and Mary
Chamberlain in 1777. Mary was born in 1761. She died on 13 May 1824.

In 1816, he bought land in Wakefield, Carleton Co., New Brunswick, Canada. He
settled in Brighton (later known as Rockland, then Coldstream) in 1829. He had a
large farm there. He was a Deacon in the Free Christian Baptist Church for over
50 years. He gave land for the church and cemetery on his farm.
David married Sarah Purdy daughter of Archelaus Purdy in 1808. Sarah was born on 31
Mar 1791 in Jemseg, Queens Co., New Brunswick, Canada.
