The Royal-tea Club Presents: An Aristocrat’s Life Saturday, August 16, 2014 Our day begins with a visit to Winterthur Museum, Garden’s and Library. The group will view an original exhibition of Downton Abbey Costumes from the award-winning television series. Approximately 40 historically inspired costumes from the television show will be displayed and supplemented by photographs and vignettes inspired by the fictional program and by real life at Winterthur. Visitors will have a chance to step into and experience the world of Downton Abbey® and the contrasting world of Winterthur founder Henry Francis du Pont and his contemporaries in the first half of the 20th century. The group will also enjoy a tram ride through the gardens and an introductory tour of the house. This afternoon we will make our way to the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington where the group will be ushered into sumptuous surroundings of a landmark four star hotel. The Hotel du Pont will be the setting for an elegant high-tea consisting of a large variety of teas, unique classic tea sandwiches, traditional scones, and an array of tea pastries and desserts. Our day wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Longwood Gardens, a jewel situated in the historic Brandywine Valley. Longwood’s ever-changing gardens and opulent conservatory offer a new experience with each visit. Longwood's conservatory is one of the world's greatest greenhouse structures.
