Solitaire Tactics Tables

Variant Tactics Tables
for playing the American Revolution Series Solitaire
by Joel Toppen
Reprinted from C3i #22
For each combat situation, follow the flowchart to
the right step-by-step to determine which Tactics
Table to use. The Tactics Tables, printed on the
other side will require the use of a 6-sided die (D6),
an 8-sided die (D8), and a 10-sided die (D10). The
Battles of the American Revolution series games
include a D10, so players will need to provide their
own D6 and D8 dice.
Engage without a Leader?
• Withdraw plausible? use Table 1
• Withdraw not plausible? use Table 2
Some of the tests will require the player to make
a “judgement call.” Do what you would do if you
were the player using those units in a two player
game. Example: would you consider using a Withdraw chit? If so then choose “Withdraw plausible.”
Once a Tactics Table has been selected, roll the appropriate dice and consult the Table to determine
what tactic that side will use. You may use this solitaire system to choose tactic chits for both sides
in combat.
• Flank possible:
• Withdraw plausible? use Table 5
• Withdraw not plausible? use Table 6
Engage with a Leader?
