MIT has three trimesters in one academic year – each trimester being the
equivalent of one traditional semester. Undertaking three trimesters in a year
allows you to complete a three-year degree in just two years, which means you
will be working while other people are still studying. The trimester system also
allows you to spread a traditional two-semester year over three trimesters –
doing fewer units in each trimester in order to manage your work and personal
commitments. Another option is to use the November trimester to catch up on
units you weren’t able to complete in previous trimesters.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Read section 3 in Part 1 for general information about admission
requirements, including English language proficiency.
Admission requirements are the minimum qualifications you need before you
can be selected for admission to a course of study.
As an international student completing one of the following qualifications in
2016, you will apply for admission through UAC and will generally be selected
on the basis of your performance in these studies (ie your ATAR or equivalent):
■ an Australian Year 12 qualification (either outside or in Australia)
■ an International Baccalaureate
■ a New Zealand National Certificate of Educational Achievement Level 3.
When assessing your application, MIT may take any or all of your qualifications
or attempts at study into account.
Limited ATAR
MIT accepts the Limited ATAR – read section 8.6.

ABOUT
Melbourne Institute of Technology – MIT Sydney offers a range of programs in
Business, Accounting, Marketing, Management, Information Technology and
Computer Networking at undergraduate (university pathway Diplomas and
Bachelor degrees) and postgraduate levels.
MIT takes pride in its growing reputation as a higher education provider
emphasising teaching quality and a good student experience. It provides an
innovative curriculum which covers both theoretical and practical knowledge,
helping you develop a successful career in your chosen field.
Students benefit from smaller class sizes and guidance from highly qualified
teaching staff. Small tutorial groups make individual attention possible, with
a focus on an understanding of both practical and theoretical knowledge.
Tutorial and assignment work involves applying industry-relevant applications
and case studies, which, in turn, require the development of critical
employability skills such as communication and analysis, cultural awareness
and a commitment to ethical standards. These skills are most relevant in the
global context and contribute to you becoming a graduate who is work-sready
and able to immediately add value to employers in any location worldwide.
International applicants applying for admission on the basis of
qualifications other than those listed above must apply directly to MIT,
not through UAC. Visit www.mit.edu.au.
STUDENTS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE
MIT does not accept applications from students who are under 18 years of age.
