Abiotic and Biotic Factors

Your job...
Abiotic and Biotic Factors
We are going to go outside for 5 minutes.
Your job is to list as many biotic and abiotic
factors that you can see while we’re outside.
What makes up an ecosystem?
4) List five BIOTIC factors you see in the picture.
1. Ecosystem: all of the living and
nonliving parts in an environment.
2. Biotic Factors (“bio” = life): All of
the LIVING parts in an ecosystem.
3. Abiotic Factors (“a” = without,
“bio” = life): All of the NONLIVING
parts in an ecosystem.
5) List five ABIOTIC factors you see in the picture.
Do biotic and abiotic factors affect each other?
If there is no water...can anything grow or
survive?
If it is extremely cold one winter, will that
affect if an animal can survive through the
season?
Picture time...
6) As a group, identify three biotic AND three
abiotic factors in the picture and list them on
your paper.
7) List two examples of how some of these
biotic and abiotic factors affect each other.
