WE ARE OFFICIALLY OPENED!
Help Us Reach Our
Annual Budget Goal of
$120,000
On Sunday January 5th Family Promise of Cobb County officially opened its doors, hearts, and resources by welcoming in
our first family. St. James’ was the first hosting church for our
wonderful ministry. With all of their very dedicated volunteers
St. James’ created a very loving homey atmosphere embracing
the guests. The children at the church made colorful signs for
the bedroom doors and delicious chocolates left on their pillows. From very young children to adults the enthusiasm for
caring for these families was incredible. The genesis of Family Promise in
Cobb County brings in hope and a future for the families in need of new beginnings. All of our participating churches will continue to provide all of the resources and care to ensure this success.

Another Successful FPCC Event!
“See Box City”
We had a great first “See Box City” event on November 16-17, 2013 at the parking lot of St. James Episcopal Church near the
Marietta Square. We had 33 groups sleeping in 27 cars, 1 tent and 5 boxes. We raised about $3900. We handed out brochures
on our walk around the square with our banner, raising awareness in Marietta of our organization, and enjoyed wonderful food,
music and fellowship in the evening. The music from the Australian Bakery Bluegrass Jam and from the Jubilate Choir were
great and raised our spirits. We also had some homeless men visit and we were able to feed them. Food was provided by ChickFil-A, Jersey Mike’s as well as from Lane Henderson, Paula Grady and Diane Sanders and it was just enough for all of us. This
was a great first-time event and will only get better next year. Many thanks go to Jennie Scott for coordinating this event.
Thank you Jennie!
With homeless families comes homeless pets. FPCC
plans to work with PetSmart to have a Pet Hotel in
Atlanta to keep our guests' pets until they can find permanent housing.
Volunteer Van Drivers Needed
We are officially open and are in need of several volunteer van drivers to drive the guest families
from the hosting congregation to the day center and back in the evening. The van will be a 15-seater
so there is no special license required. We would like to have six or seven volunteer drivers, if possible, to support a rotation of drivers. Primary driving times will be 6:30 a.m. – 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. We will also need drivers on Saturdays & Sundays around 8 to
8:30 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. These times are estimates and may change as we get into our
routines. There may also be a need to drive families to medical appointments and to other centers for
training, but these will be sporadic needs that cannot be predicted. If you are interested, please let us
know as soon as possible or if you know of someone who might be interested. You can contact Hale
Sanders or our director Camilla Worrell.
