Welcome to a special, members-only sneak peek
of the new Walter Family Arctic Tundra! You will
have exclusive access to the entire exhibit and be
among the first to experience new educational
programming. We hope you enjoy today’s
activities. Thank you for helping to make this new
exhibit possible through your support!
Chance for Change
What if Chicago had one season all year long? We have
the power to change how we live, but other animals
like polar bears aren’t so lucky. Spin the wheel of
chance to discover how a shift in seasons can change
their lives.

Growing the Tundra Landscape
Meet our horticulture staff to learn about the plants
growing in and around the polar bear habitat that
evoke the feeling of the Arctic (or Alaskan) wilderness.

Free Rides on AT&T Endangered Species Carousel
Take a spin with your favorite animal! Free for members
this morning—just present your membership card.

Polar Bear Chat
Polar bears are champions of the Arctic! From ears
to toes, they are specially adapted for the cold
environment. Join our chat to learn more about how
special they truly are!
9–10 a.m., South end of exhibit near training window
Polar Bears International
Lincoln Park Zoo is an Arctic Ambassador Center with
Polar Bears International, but what does that mean?
Anthony Nielsen, a lead keeper at the zoo, will explain
as he shares details from his trip to Churchill, Canada,
and how climate change is affecting bears in different
parts of the Arctic.
9:30–10 a.m., Cichlid exhibit in Regenstein African Journey.

Polar Bear Care with Jill Gossett
Learn about the new polar bear from someone who
knows best—the lead keeper! From photos to diets,
Jill will present an insider’s scoop on the recent arrival,
Siku.
10–10:30 a.m., Cichlid exhibit in Regenstein African Journey.

Our Future on Thin Ice
Polar bears aren’t the only ones who depend on ice!
Discover how changing sea ice changes all of our lives.
