What You Need
number cards 0–9 (4 of each)
2 counters
paper
What To Do
Work with a partner.
1 Shuffle the number cards and place them facedown.
2 Partner 1: Draw three number cards and use them to form an amount of
money with dollars and cents. Use a counter as the decimal point.
For example: If you draw cards 8, 4, and 0, you could make $4.08, $8.04, or $0.48.
3 Record the amount on paper and pass the paper to Partner 2.
4 Partner 2: Draw three more cards to make a new amount of money. Add that amount
to Partner 1’s amount. Record the total and pass the paper back to Partner 1.
5 Repeat Steps 2–4. Add each new amount to the total until the total reaches
at least $50.00.
6 When the total is at least $50.00, continue taking turns, but subtract the amount
of money from the total. Continue until the amount of money to subtract is more
than the amount of money that remains.
7 If you run out of cards, shuffle the used cards to make a new deck.
