Backing Papers
To select the right product, you-need to know
Glass
Crack-Back® Plus
Excellent substrate for ALL adhesives. Caution advised
for Deep Freeze on windows due to rubber adhesive.
Permanent & SuperTack advised. Caution advised for
Removable – will become permanent.
• Unique diagonal crack lines only 32 mm apart.
• Makes sheet layout simple for printer and reduces waste.
• Thick, stiff backing ensures print at optimum speed.
• A crack-line on every sticker.
• Lines are ‘cracked’ and split open for
backing removal.
• Easy removal of backing paper from the
smallest stickers.
Wood (natural)
Scored backing
Metal (bare)
Excellent substrate for ALL adhesives.
Polystyrene
Suitable for all adhesives. Caution: certain types of PVC
may increase level of adhesion of removable adhesives.
Textiles/clothes
Difficult substrate due to lack of bond obtained
between standard adhesives and textile threads.
Conformable construction required (e.g. Acetate Satin
Cloth). Caution: Some adhesives may cause staining on
leather, suede or silk.
Cardboard
On natural smooth cardboard use Permanent.
Ribbed/rough cardboard requires SuperTack. Caution:
when cardboard is oiled/waxed for water resistance.
Rough and irregular surfaces
SuperTack is often the best choice, although
Permanent may give sufficient bond. Avoid Removable.
Paint and varnish
Generally good adhesion can be obtained if paint is
dry/solvents are evaporated. Caution: Nitro-cellulose
paints make Removable adhesives Permanent – quickly!
Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP)
All adhesives should give sufficient bond if smooth
and flat. If non-flat, SuperTack is only option.
Coated paper/boards
Excellent substrate for all adhesives.
Caution: Removable may become Permanent on some
types of coated paper with an SBR binder system.
Polycarbonates
In general, good adhesion can be obtained from all
adhesives. Caution: Use of an Offset Vinyl may lead to
surface bubbles and poor label appearance.
